Louis Dolgin Obituary

DOLGIN

Louis

Louis Dolgin, age 91, died Sunday, February 1, 2015. Lou was born in New York City but lived most of his life in Toledo, graduating from DeVilbiss High School. He fought in World War II, where he was an instrument technician, spending the majority of his Air Corps career in England. Upon returning home in 1946, he joined his father, Aaron Dolgin, in the jewelry business, becoming a partner in and president of Dolgin Jewelers. He enjoyed helping his customers express and create their unique jewelry items. He retired in 2010 when he closed Dolgin Jewelers.

He loved his fishing trips to Canada and to Florida; he enjoyed his Thursday night poker games with friends or gambling at the casino; he also had the pleasure of owning 2 champion harness race horses. In his youth he played B'Nai Brith softball and B'nai Brith bowling. His first love was his dog, Michel, and has loved all dogs since. Louis belonged to Temple Shomer, B'Nai Brith, the Masonic Lodge, The Veterans Association, and the Disabled Veterans Association.

Louis was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne. Surviving him is his daughter, Lynda Dolgin-Duda (Steve); grand dog-ter, Daisy; sons, Dr. Eric Dolgin (Robyn), and Jon Dolgin; sisters, Bette Faye Cone-Schwartz and Shirley Levy (Dr. Phillip).

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 5, 2015, at noon at Temple Shomer Emunim, 6453 Sylvania Ave., Sylvania, OH. The family will be receiving friends through Thursday evening at the home of Jon Dolgin. The family requests any donations be made to The Toledo Animal Shelter, the Toledo Humane Society, to Temple Shomer Emunim, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements by the Robert H. Wick/Wisniewski Funeral Home, (419)535-5840.

Louis was a fantastic man, who gave me my first start as a jeweler and business owner. I will forever remember Louie as a man of great character and faith.

Lynda and Jon, may you find comfort in knowing your dad touched thousands of lives and has now been given his wings.

Rest easy my friend, thank you for your support and encouragement.
