Sister M. Dolores Florek

FLOREK Sister M. Dolores Sister M. Dolores Florek, 91, a Sister of St. Francis, Sylvania, Ohio, died June 25, 2007, at the Rosary Care Center in Sylvania, Ohio. She was born Adelaide F. Florek on December 17, 1915, to Ignatius and Mary (Gallus) Florek in Delano, MN. On September 15, 1931, she entered the Sisters of St. Francis, Sylvania, Ohio from St. Joseph Parish in Delano, MN. Her final vows were professed on August 18, 1937. Sister Dolores earned a B.S.E. in Education/Social Studies at University of Detroit, Detroit, MI and held permanent teaching certificates in Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio. Sister Dolores ministered in the field of education for almost 40 years, teaching at many elementary schools, beginning in Ohio at Immaculate Conception School, Port Clinton, St. Mary Magdalene School, Rossford, SS Peter & Paul School, Sandusky and St. Ann School, Cincinnati. She taught in Michigan at St. Ladislaus School, Hamtramck, St. Stanislaus School, Detroit and St. Raphael School, Garden City. In Minneapolis she taught at Immaculate Conception School, All Saints School, Holy Cross School, Presentation School, St. Paul and St. John the Baptist, New Brighton. For the following years, she served as a Pastoral Minister until her return to Rosary Care Center, where she remained until her death. Sister Dolores leaves to cherish her memory many nieces and nephews, all living in Minnesota; many dear friends and her Sisters in Community. A Welcoming Service will be held at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Francis, Sylvania, Ohio on Thursday, June 28, 2007, at 6:00 p.m. Her remains will be moved to Madonna Hall for viewing until 8:00 p.m. and after 9:00 a.m. until her funeral on Friday. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Chapel, Sylvania, Ohio on June 29, 2007, at 4:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis, Sylvania, Ohio.
