Sister M. Ruth Anthony Korblick

KORBLICK Sister M. Ruth Anthony Sister M. Ruth Anthony Korblick, 72, a Sister of St. Francis, Sylvania, Ohio, died Monday, August 4, 2008 at the Rosary Care Center in Sylvania, Ohio. She was born Hedwig Korblick on September 28, 1935, to Anthony and Alvina (Bukowski) Korblick in Delano, MN. On July 26, 1952, she entered the Sisters of St. Francis, Sylvania, Ohio from St. Joseph Parish, Delano, MN. She professed her final vows on August 10, 1958. Sister Ruth Anthony earned a B.A., B.S.E. in Social Studies/Education at Mary Manse College, Toledo, OH. Sister held teaching certificates in Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio. Sister Ruth Anthony's ministry was mainly in the field of elementary education. In Michigan, she taught primary grades at SS. Peter & Paul and Our Lady Queen of Heaven School in Detroit. She taught in Minnesota at St. John the Baptist School, New Brighton and N.E. Regional Catholic School in Minneapolis. Sister held many positions in Ohio, among them teaching at SS. Peter & Paul School, Sandusky; St. Ann School, Cincinnati and St. Jude School, Toledo. In Sylvania, Sister Ruth Anthony served as Food Service coordinator at Chiara Center; Rosary Care Center Gift Shop, Crafts and Guild assistant, Activities assistant and in Maria Cove as an Art Curator assistant. When Sister began residence in Rosary Care Center, she was an active volunteer as the telephone receptionist. Sister Ruth Anthony leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Alexander Korblick (Mary); her sister, Patricia Korblick, her brother-in-law, Harold Wellnitz, many nieces and nephews, many friends and her Sisters in Community. A Welcoming Service will be held at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Francis, Sylvania, Ohio, on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. Her remains will be moved to Madonna Hall for viewing until 8:00 p.m. and after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2008 until her Mass of Christian Burial in Queen of Peace Chapel, Sylvania, Ohio at 4:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis, Sylvania, Ohio.
