Maria Oyerbides Obituary
Maria Luisa Oyerbides, age 80, of Erie, MI passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 15, 1940 in Loredo, TX to Pedro and Juanita (Soto) Elizondo. Maria was employed at Value City, and as a Nurse's Aide at Golden Haven Nursing Home. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she enjoyed dancing and listening to music, especially Elvis. Maria was also an avid gardener who loved tending her rose garden and keeping her yard looking beautiful with sun and moon yard decorations, and by hand-trimming the grass with the many lawn scissors she collected. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie, MI.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse D. Oyerbides; son, David J. Oyerbides; infant daughter, Bridget; and siblings, Brigido Elizondo and Paula Guardiola. She is survived by her children, Michael, Gilbert (Christina), Albert, and Robert (Jana) Oyerbides; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Joe (Marsha) Elizondo; and canine companions, Smokey and Maggie.
The Funeral Mass for Maria will be Thursday, March 11 at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Erie, MI. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Those attending the Funeral Mass are asked to wear a facial covering and respect social distancing guidelines.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 419-476-9176. Condolences may be shared at

Leecha how I love you. Remember all the times we would get together and laugh and poke fun at my mom. You seemed to understand the challenges I faced with my mom but never judged me. I love my mom and love you for being there so many times when I was little and big. Now you are in Heaven with God and maybe when it's my time you can sneak me in-ok good bye for now but never forgotten
