Mary Gomer Obituary
Mary Jane Elizabeth Gomer, age 79, of Toledo, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 9, 2017. She was born on April 19, 1938 to James T. and Adella B. (Howard) Tucker in Toledo. Above all, Mary was dedicated to taking care of her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family will fondly remember all the holiday dinners that she hosted, tending to her endless flower gardens and going to estate sales with her husband, Edward.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gwyn Mares, Steve, David, Thomas, Donald (Lisa Brescol), Sandra (Norbert) Kirian, Kathy (Michael) Stengle, William and Christopher (Jenny); 28 grandchildren; over 60 precious great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and siblings, Norma and Walter (Rita). In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Gomer in August 2016; infant twin daughters, Barbara Jean and Catherine Sue; son, Joseph; brother, James; and sister, Rose.
The family will receive guests on Friday, June 16, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Friday at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Dravet Syndrome Foundation, an organization and cause that Mary was passionate about because her great-granddaughter has contended with this syndrome her entire life.
