Millie Sturt Obituary

Millie (Urbanowski) Sturt

09/24/1937 - 01/16/2024

The Loss of an iconic woman to many came January 16, 2024; Lightning-fast lung complication with no chance of recovery.

Millie will be missed by the many people she touched with her humor, laughter, undeniable sparkling eyes and smile. She cultivated friendships that lasted a lifetime. Millie went to St. Charles catholic school and on to Maumee high school, graduate of 1955. During her employment years "she liked to add that she slept at those jobs, so she would be rested for her other job" showing her sense of humor balancing multiple responsibilities. Through her brothers, Edward (Pete) Urbanowski and NPR Bull rider Paul Urbanowski, she met the Love of her life, Willard (Bill) Sturt. They started Toledo Paving Company and owned 11 Wendy's franchises. Millie and Willard had 6 children and 2 grandchildren.

Millie lived a big, full, real life, embracing it to the fullest exploring the world on all continents soaking in beauty and adventures. From snow skiing to snorkeling in tropical waters of the Bahamas to the Great Barrier Reef. She was an avid Tennis Player at Shadow Valley and golfed with her friends and cohorts from McDonalds (Lambertville). Millie even rare as it is an accomplishment, shot a "Hole-in-one." She embraced a variety of interests throughout her life. Fascinating pursuits offering connection to history by Antique/Auctions fulfilled her time with wagon, sleigh and buggy purchases. Millie hunted in Wyoming, Colorado bagging Mule Deer, Pronghorn. When hunting at home shooting an occasional squirrel, woodchuck around the property to feed her owls and arctic foxes. She would hand you a pair of gloves and bag when heading out and say, "if you see a FRESH road kill…pick it up and bring it home."

Millie's generous spirit helped anyone who came across her path in need, she had an amazing skill to find great items from the original GW, but also to lift those around her. Her immense dedication to raising both domestic and exotic animals for 40 yrs told a story of her resilience and strength for her love for all her animals. In 2011 she had a serious leg injury ending the era of her large animal care. Millie's inner and physical strength maintained her positive and realistic outlook through life's challenges, showing her ability to land on her feet no matter what came her way. Creating a spiritual, peaceful sanctuary filled with love for animals and plants, a beautiful reflection of her soul showed when she honed her mowing skills for the past 30 years, turning her pastureland comparable to golf course quality was clear to see her attention to detail, she had a deep appreciation for nature and craftsmanship.

Everyone who knew her well, nothing gave her more enjoyment than building a BIG FIRE (1 match Millie). Her fires reminded her of her father, predeceased Walter Urbanowski, who was a Toledo Fireman.

Her innate ability on those afternoons mowing with white tail deer following along behind her, she knew exactly the "sun setting time" that her TV shows were on (Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy), and "All knew" not to bother her. Only her Predeceased sister, Jackie (Urbanowski) Sobecki, would get through.

Millie truly lived with integrity and passion, staying true to herself and her values through every phase of her life. She loved her family, friends, her life, country music and was disheartened when the Sunday Polish music channel went off the air, she embraced her roots and that made her happy. "A good Woman as one says" Millie lived life by her character and rules all the way to her passing, a powerful legacy. They Broke the mold when Millie (Amelia Ann Urbanowski) was born. Her sense of Humor, Joyful spirit, playful demeanor and CLASSIC STYLE made her a bright light in everyone's life, leaving a lasting impact.
