Nancy Benner Obituary

Nancy Jean Benner

Nancy Jean Benner, 91 years, of Temperance, MI, passed away on December 26, 2024, in Ebeid Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Sylvania, OH. The daughter of George Frank and Laura Bell (Whitman) Fry, she was born on October 23, 1933, in Lambertville, MI.

Nancy graduated from Bedford High School in 1951, where she met Rodney Benner; they married on September 1, 1952. Rodney and Nancy built their home in Temperance, room by room, completing it in 1963. She and Rodney were blessed with four sons, Rick, Tom, Jeff, and Todd, and eventually 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Rodney and Nancy moved to southeastern Minnesota in 1995 and had many happy years there prior to Rodney's passing in 2018. In June 2023, Nancy returned to the home in Temperance that she and Rodney built, where she and her son, Jeff, enjoyed a bountiful garden during the summer of 2024. Mowing the lawn on the riding mower was her happy place. She was preceded in death by all her siblings, Dorothy, Marion, Betty, Franklin, Margaret, and John William (Bill).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church, 7295 Kruse Rd., Petersburg, MI, at 11:00 a.m., where visiting will begin at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon hosted by the women of Zion will be held at the church immediately following the service. A private interment of Nancy's cremains at Toledo Memorial Park will occur at a later time with the immediate family in attendance. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Urbanski's Bedford Funeral Chapel, 8300 Lewis Ave., Temperance, MI. Online condolences may be shared at www. bedfordfuneralchapel.com.
