Nancy Machcinski Obituary

Nancy Annette Machcinski

Nancy (aka "Annette") lost her battle with Multiple Myeloma and was called to heaven on April 28th, 2025. Nancy was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee, and her parents moved the family north to Toledo to seek better employment opportunities.

Nancy worked for The Kroger Co., Joseph Supermarket where she met her loving husband, John, and Seaway Foodtown, retiring in 1984.

Nancy was very family oriented. After her father passed, Nancy, her brothers and sister, with their spouses and children would gather at their mothers on Sunday evenings, at times struggling through some strong coffee. Her mom's deserts made up for it, especially gramma cake, one of Nancy's favorites.

Nancy enjoyed travelling and summer vacations. Early on there was the annual family summer vacation trip to Daytona Beach with her two daughters, her siblings, their spouses and their children.

Nancy travelled to many places in and out of the country with her husband, John, at times with siblings and their spouses. Her favorite places of all, Traverse City, and the surrounding towns. Of course, these trips included her favorite pastime, shopping. She loved the boutique clothing and shoe stores in the area. Nancy would buy and John would carry the bags. Nancy could always find clothing or shoes to buy whether it was a catalogue, Talbots, Chicos, DSW, Costco or other retail outlets.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, John; special daughters, Kim (John) Bolyard, Tracy (Brandon) Jamison; grandchildren, Alexandra (Mike) Haranda, Garrett (girlfriend Cassie) Fetter; brothers, Robert (Bob) Guess, Jerry (Katie) Guess; sister Barbara "Barb" (Jim) Nowakowski whom she talked with daily; sisters-in-law, Lois Guess, Barbara (Barb) Guess, Sheryl Guess; and many nieces and nephews. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Eli (aka "Sam") and Mary Alice Guess; brothers, Richard Allen (Dick), Charles Russell (Russ) Guess and Kenneth (Kenny) Guess.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Van Boggus, the nurses at the Toledo Clinic Infusion Center on North Holland Sylvania Road for their warmth and care, Dr. Yvonne Efebera, her staff at the Bing Cancer in Columbus Ohio and Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Special thanks to Dr. Richard C. Phinney for his kindness, care, and compassion in guiding Nancy through her various stages of treatment fighting the fight with Multiple Myeloma for the last nine years.

There will be a visitation on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes you donate to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the charity of your choice.
