Kenneth Machcinski Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 15, 2023.
Kenneth A. Machcinski passed away peacefully on December 16, 2022, in Perrysburg, OH.
He was born in Toledo on October 7, 1944, the oldest child of Arthur and Theresa (Staniszewski) Machcinski.
Ken was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. He earned his bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University and his master's degree from the University of Toledo. He was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing in high school and college. He was also part of a jazz band called the Hi-Liters. He was inducted into the Central Catholic Music Hall of Fame in 2016.
He married Sharon Stephens on November 19, 1966. Together, they raised three children. They shared 50 years of marriage before Sharon's passing in 2017.
Ken spent his career teaching music and being an elementary school principal, teaching for numerous school systems in Ohio throughout his career. Never one to sit around, after he retired from education in 1996, he continued working different part time jobs to stay active.
He was most proud of his family and enjoyed raising his three children with Sharon. In retirement, he enjoyed winters in Florida with Sharon and spending time on his pontoon boat. He also enjoyed staying in touch with his childhood friends and would often get together with them to play cards and have lunch together.
His grandchildren meant so much to him and he would attend as many of their activities as he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sharon, his beloved son Stephen Machcinski, his brother Nicholas Machcinski and sister-in-law Audrey Stelnicki. He is survived by his children Richard Machcinski (Teresa Roberts), Beth (Christopher) Hoye, grandchildren Grace and Brandon Hoye, sister Debra (Terry) Crandall, sister-in-law, Diane Machcinski, brother-in-law Edward Stelnicki, nieces Janelle (Jerid) Friar and Michelle (Justin) Jakubowski) and nephews Ed (Tina) Stenicki and Doug (Nadine Ostrowski) Stelnicki.
A private burial was held at Toledo Memorial Cemetery. The family expresses gratitude to the staff at St. Clare Commons and Southern Care Hospice for their compassionate care. Memorials in Ken's honor may be given to the National Fallen Fire Fighters Foundation.
