Norbert J. "Norb" Brown

BROWN Norbert J. "Norb" Norbert J. "Norb" Brown, 78, of Toledo, formerly of Sandusky, died Sunday morning, October 11, 2009. He was born April 12, 1931, in Bellevue, Ohio, son of the late Frank and Rose (Landoll) Brown. He was a 1949 graduate of Bellevue High School, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, then graduated from The Ohio State University in 1959. Norb was employed as an accountant for many years at Aluminum & Magnesium Inc, Sandusky, Good Samaritan (now Firelands) Hospital, Sandusky and Parkview Hospital in Toledo, retiring in 1992. He was a lifelong lover of sport, particularly baseball and golf. Norb was a member of the Sandusky area Jaycees in his youth, a longtime member of the OSU Alumni Association, as well as a member of the Toledo chapter of the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America, including several stints as a club officer. He is survived by longtime companion, Ruth Ann Zylka, of Toledo; former wife, Ramona Kromer of Sandusky; one sister, Esther Hauler, of Monroeville; one son, Jeff (Cary) Brown of Sylvania, Ohio; one daughter, Julie (Curt) Roberts of Sandusky; three grandchildren, Emily Brown, Sylvania, Chase and Colt Roberts, Sandusky, and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Norb was preceded in death by his bride of seven weeks, Shirley (Kromer) Brown in 1955. Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E.
