Paul Wagner Obituary

WAGNER Paul Eugene Paul Eugene Wagner was born October 15, 1927, to Lawrence and Helen (Montry) Wagner in Toledo, OH. He attended DeVeaux Elementary School and DeVilbiss High School. Paul served in the Navy during WWII, and later attended the University of Toledo graduating in 1951 with a degree in civil engineering. Paul worked in Northwest Ohio on many construction projects and eventually established his own construction company. During this time he served a term as area leader of the Ohio Contractor's Association. He loved competitive sports of all kinds, and was an umpire during the years his sons played in Maumee's Little League Baseball. He enjoyed camping vacations with his family and traveling to far away places throughout the world. Church activities were a major part of his life: Fellowship groups, Koinonia, Local and National Holy Spirit Conferences and many areas of congregational service. Paul lived a full life and is now in the arms of his Savior, Jesus. His strong faith sustained him during the challenge of his illness. He is survived by his wife, Joan, and his four wonderful sons, Larry (Deborah), David (Cass), Peter (Deborah), Dr. William (Susan); grandchildren, Paul, Charles, Josiah, Ryan, Lauren, John and Hannah; brother, Jack (Joyce), sister-in-law, Norma (Charles) Caris, brother-in-law, Jim (Shirley) Bilkovsky, and uncle and aunt, Frank and Irene Montry. Our heartfelt thanks to all the outstanding people who helped Paul and the family during his illness - all Angels! Friends may call at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home 501 Conant St., Maumee on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. Services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home, followed by interment in Ft. Meigs Cemetery, Perrysburg. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Paul's name are asked to consider St. Paul's Episcopal Church Respite Care of Maumee, Parkcliffe Assisted Living, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Church of the Good Shepherd, Wayne, Ohio. www.walkerfuneralhomes.com

My sympathy and prayers are with the Wagner family. Paul was my first employer in the construction industry and he gave me a very good start. He will be missed but remembered well.

WE WERE SHOCKED AND GRIEVED TO HEAR OF PAUL'S PASSING. MY WIFE AND I WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND OUR CONDOLENCES. I HAVE FOND MEMORIES OF PAUL AND THE YEARS I WORKED FOR HIM. HE WAS PROBABLY THE KINDEST EXCAVATING CONTRACTOR THAT I WORKED FOR IN THE TOLEDO AREA ( AND I WORKED FOR MANY OF THEM).

WHILE VISITING IN FLORIDA THIS WEEK I VISITED WITH DAVE HAWKINS IN POLK CITY. HE ASKED ABOUT SOME OF THE PEOPLE WE WERE WITH AT WAYNESFIELD - AND WE SHARED MANY GOOD MEMORIES. IN 1994 I MOVED TO THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA AND RETIRED FROM THERE IN 2005 - MOVING TO A RETIREMENT COMMUNITY IN RENO, NEVADA. I OFTEN ASKED MY SON HOW PAUL WAS DOING, AND HE KEPT ME INFORMED UNTIL HE LOST TRACK OF ANYONE IN THE WAGNER FAMILY. AGAIN WE EXTEND OUR CONDOLENCES, AND WE KNOW THAT HE IS IN HEAVEN.

What a powerful witness Paul was...I'll always cherish the times we spent together--look forward to the day we all met again! What a glorious day that will be! He will be missed. Love, Joyce
