Phyllis Pacholek Obituary

Phyllis Jean "Busia" Pacholek

Phyllis Jean "Busia" Pacholek, age 91, of Toledo, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, August 4, 2025. She was born on May 12, 1934, in Toledo, OH, to Ernest and Clara (Zoldowski) Dominiak. Phyllis was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and employed as a billing clerk for Motor Express and TNT Holland Motor Express, retiring from the trucking industry after nearly 40 years. She was a 70-year parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church and later Sts. Adalbert/Hedwig Catholic Church and actively involved as a member of the Altar Rosary Society and the Polish Choir. Proud of her Polish heritage, Phyllis was a wonderful cook who loved preparing many different Polish dishes for her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished time spent with her loved ones. She will be dearly missed.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael Pacholek, in 2005; son, Timothy Pacholek, in 2002; and sisters, Helen Wilczynski and Alice Devlin. Surviving are her children, Mary Ellen (Jacob) Bieniek, Michael Pacholek, and Gary Pacholek; grandchildren, Lisa (Aaron) Escareno, Stacy Pacholek, Anthony (Rachael) Pacholek, Steven (Kim) Pacholek, Ashley (Ian) Bieniek-Tobasco, Melissa (Chad) Miller, and Stephanie Stuart; 15 great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Theresa and Vicki; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 7, from 2:00-8:00 p.m., at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin Friday, at 10:15 a.m., in the funeral home, and continue with the Funeral Mass in Sts. Adalbert/Hedwig Church, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Richard Cemetery, Swanton, OH.

Special thanks to "Busia's Angels," Stacy, Melissa, and Ashley, for the loving care they provided their Busia. Also, special thanks to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Sts. Adalbert/Hedwig Catholic Church. Condolences can be shared at www.sujkowski.com.

I worked with Phyllis at Motor Express for eleven years, beginning my junior year at Woodward. She was the work mom that cared and supported others every day. She was a devout Catholic and demonstrated her faith in her actions and the way she lived. Occasionally on a slow evening at work someone would make a sundae run to Franklin's Ice Cream at Bennett and Eleanor. Phyllis always requested butter pecan ice cream. On Fridays during Lent she would bring her homemade perogies to share with everyone. She even taught me how to make them. She never ate any sweets during Lent, but at other times during the year would bring some of her baked treats. I know how much she loved her family and missed Michael and Timothy and other relatives. I am sure she was welcomed into the arms of Jesus and her loved ones. I am in Missouri and cannot attend but Phyllis and her family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
