R. Scott Siewert

1947 - 2024

R. Scott "Coach C" Siewert, age 77, of Holland, Ohio, went to be with his Lord on September 4, 2024. He was born July 25, 1947, to Arnold C. and Margaret (Morgan) Siewert. After an early death of Margaret, Scott was raised by his stepmother, Alba (Hale) Siewert. Scott was educated at Clay Senior High School, Andrew-Toledo Barber College, University of Toledo Community Tech., and Owens Community College. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees. Scott started his work career as a self employed master barber at Beverly Barber Shop, then with the Lucas County Sheriff's Office, and retired from the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority Police and Fire. He also was a certified exercise specialist and strength and conditioning coach at Swanton, Northwood, Ottawa Hills, and St. Francis de Sales High Schools. While at St. Francis he coached the high school powerlifting team to the three straight District Team Championships. Scott and his wife owned and operated Gold's Gym of Sylvania. Scott was a multi-national, international, and world Masters Powerlifting Champion. He was an inductee in the Northwest Ohio Weightlifting Hall of Fame. He received the Award of Excellence in Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting from the Great Lakes Chapter American Association of Airport Executives. On several occasions Scott was personal security for the great, Hall of Fame golfer, Frank Stranahan, Jr, of West Palm Beach, Florida, when he went on personal appearances. Scott at the time of his death was co-authoring a book "Surf and Turf" with his friend and pastor, Dave Rison. The story is based on their individual paths in life and their faith in the Lord. Scott was also a regular church attendee at Boulevard Christian Church of Sylvania.

Many thoughts and prayers go out for all of the family. Taught CPR with Scott for several years and he always made everyone laugh (and learn ). May God sustain all who were so close to Scott, he was an honor to know.
