Uncle Ray will be sadly missed. I can remember my first trip to the restaurant as a young girl just as clearly as my last trip there when I was grown. I had lobster there for the very first time ever. I remember Uncle Ray coming to the table and asking me if I was going to do it the hard way or take the easy option of having the meat removed for me and place in a crock... just for the record I took the easy route. I will forever remember driving downtown and seeing the big red lobster painted on the side of the building...sure wish I had taken the time to photograph that before the building was torn down. My prayers are with you, and know that the memories I have of your dad are truly the fondest... God Bless

Dear Dyer Family,
My deepest sympathy for your loss. I was a regular customer at Dyer's Chop House for many years. I worked upstairs at Patricia Stevens and considered Ray and Joe as friends. (I was friends with the waitresses until I crossed the picket line to help serve customers during a strike.) When I return to Toledo to visit relatives, I still miss not being able to dine at Dyer's Chop House.

Although I have not lived in Toledo for over 45 years, my brother and I still talk about dining at Dyer's Chop House as it was our parents' favorite restaurant. Sincere sympathy to all of the family.

Butch, I am Art & Blanche’s Granddaughter (Greg Wise’s daughter) and wanted to send my condolences to you and your family. I have memories of “Uncle” Ray from when I was a little girl and remember the restaurant fondly. He and Lucille were very kind when my father passed in 1985. Before moving to Florida in 2004, I had the opportunity to see Lucille @ Sam’s Club on a few occasions. I’m sorry I am not there to attend the memorial and give my condolences in person. However, please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May God bless each of you and keep you in His loving care.

Ray and Nancy,

T and I are so sorry for the loss of your father Ray. He was a good man, and the ultimate gentleman. T was remembering that Uncle Ray was the person who gave him his first job working at the Chop House at age 16.His smile, his laugh, his handsome good looks, his graciousness. Still there till the end. He will be greatly missed, but we have nothing but good memories of him.
