Raymond Russeau Obituary

Raymond Russeau

July 10, 1934 - May 14, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Raymond Russeau on May 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and four daughters. Born on July 10, 1934, in LaSalle, Michigan, Ray was the beloved son of Ernest and Jeanette Russeau. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Francie (Schuchman); and his four daughters, Renee (Joe) Kelsch, Amy (Jeff) Sattler, Mara, and Amanda (John) Schlageter. Ray was the proud grandfather to Abigail (John), Ben (Nicole), Maggie, Matt, Caroline, Emma, Grace (Jonah), Jack; and a cherished great-grandfather to John Riley.

Ray's early years were marked by curiosity and a strong work ethic. He attended a one-room schoolhouse from first through eighth grade, and as a young boy, he assisted his father in bringing electricity and plumbing to their family home. He graduated from Monroe High School and went on to study engineering at the University of Toledo.

In the 1950s, Ray answered his country's call, joining the U.S. Army after receiving a draft notice addressed to "Friends and Neighbors." He served honorably from 1955 to 1957.

Professionally, Ray began as a draftsman before joining Owens Corning Fiberglass as a design engineer. He spent the majority of his career with Schindler Elevator Corporation, where he held the role of Vice President of Sales, Services, and Construction. Even after retirement, Ray remained active in commercial real estate well into his seventies.

Ray always had projects underway. He enjoyed woodworking and building custom furniture pieces. Later in life Ray developed a hobby for painting, creating beautiful art that brings joy to so many.

Ray will be remembered as a loving husband, dedicated father, grandfather, and loyal friend. His quick wit, generous spirit, and deep commitment to his family will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Ray's life will be held on July 13th, at Stone Oak Country Club. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a prayer service and luncheon at 12 p.m. Friends and family are warmly invited to attend and share their memories. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Ray's memory. Please share your memories and condolences at www.https://www.americancremationevents.com.

The Russeau family extends their heartfelt thanks for the love, support, and kindness shown during this time of loss.

My condolences to my dear friend, Francie, and
family.
I will always appreciate the warm welcomes that I received when visiting Ray and Francie's home, from both of them. Having a Dad who was a master
woodworker, helped me discover quality woodworking. I found this in Ray's custom furniture he made for their home.
Knowing Ray, lead me to appreciate what a fine man he was.
May he rest in peace,
Mikki Micallef
