Richard Claar Obituary
Richard E. "Rick" Claar, 66, of Elmore, Ohio, passed away Monday, November 29, 2021.
Known to village residents as "Mr. Elmore", Rick was the current mayor of the Village of Elmore, and was the President of the Elmore Historical Society. An employee of Woodmore Local Schools, he also owned the Elmore Five & Dime for many years. At one time, Rick operated Big D's at Raceway Park in Toledo and was active in Harness Racing.
Surviving is his significant other of many years, Jackie Rober; and brother, Don Claar. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack & Marilyn (Hein) Claar; and his sister, Peggy Cly.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel, 19550 W. S.R. 51, Elmore. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Woodmore High School, 633 Fremont St., Elmore, OH. Interment will follow at Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery. Those planning on making a memorial contribution are asked to please consider the Elmore Historical Society or the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge. Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements and online condolences may be shared at www.crosserfuneralhome.com.

Sorry I missed the news of Rick's Passing. We knew him from his Raceway Park Days and he was always a friend. We would stop in Elmore and visit him at the shop. He was never Ric k but "Jolegal" to us which was the horse he had at Raceway. Gary & Janis Gatanis

We knew Rick from his Harness Racing Days, he was always a happy person. The Village of Elmore has lost a great supporter and person. Rest In Peace Friend.

You were Mr. RICK to the many children you buckled in for safety on the bus from my bus stop! You always had had a smile and a wave when I saw you! Rest In Peace Mr Rick!

Our most sincere condolences. Mr Claar always had a smile on whether you saw him in the store or at school. My kids, and grandkids, and I had the privilege of knowing him from preschool, through elementary and middle school and just loved him! He will truly be missed by us all. In our hearts and prayers, always.
