Richard Kiser Obituary

Richard J. "Dick" Kiser

Richard J. "Dick" Kiser, 63, of Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 23, 2017. He was born on October 30 (the same day as his mother and mother-in-law), 1953 in Fremont, Ohio, a son of the late Robert and Eleanor (Frederick) Kiser. On September 6, 1986 he married Lori Osborn, the love of his life, and she survives.

Dick was a 1972 graduate of St. Joseph Central Catholic High School in Fremont, and also graduated from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. He started Northcoast Automation Supply and subsequently realized his dream of owning a shop where he could utilize his inventive mind. He was the President/Owner of Machine Tool & Fab Inc. in Fostoria until he sold the company in 2016 and stayed on as a consultant until his retirement in 2017.

Dick was an amazing thinker and could figure out things mechanically, electrically, or practically. He always had to improve something, or fix something Lori was always breaking, as he would say. If there was a more efficient or better way to do something, he'd figure it out. He loved doing this for his family and many dear friends. He was a perfectionist - everything was always neat and clean. Dick was a charming and very compassionate man. He NEVER complained about a thing, and was quite the practical joker.

Dick was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marblehead.

A nature lover, he enjoyed being outside, especially boating on Lake Erie, and going for a walk and playing in the lake, or 'chasing the dot' with his canine companion "Augie". He LOVED watching storms come in across the lake, especially with Uncle Chris and his WOW buddies. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with Lori and their close friends and family. He loved entertaining them and hosting their famous pig roasts for many years (with or without the cat and rat).

Survivors include his wife, Lori; brother, Jim (Debbie) Kiser, Bluffton, South Carolina; sisters, Pat (Tom) Snyder, Bowling Green, Ohio and Ann Kiser-Eastman, Dillingham, Alaska; his most precious canine companion, "Augie"; nieces and nephews; and 14 "adopted" children. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio. At 8 p.m. a Rosary will be recited by members of the St. Joseph Altar Rosary Society.

Additional visitation will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 9 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 Barclay Street, Marblehead, Ohio with Father James Brown and Chaplain Mel Sayler, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Marblehead.

In lieu of flowers, Dick would have requested memorial contributions to be given to the Society for the Protection of Animals (Augie's rescuers), PO Box 1047, Fremont, Ohio 43420; Danbury Township Police Dept., 5972 E. Port Clinton Easter Rd., Marblehead, OH 43440; or Danbury Township Fire & EMS, 9551 East Harbor Rd., Marblehead, OH 43440.

Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.neideckerleveckcrosser.com. They are all so appreciative of the love you have always shared with them. Dick's friends meant the world to him.

Dear Lori and all the Kisers,

We were so sad to hear of Dick's passing and send our deepest condolences to you.

I will never forget seeing you and Dick curled up together like spoons, years ago at the cabin at the lake, so in love, so happy, and me thinking oh, so this is what a great love likes and feels like.

I know you are surrounded by the strength and love of your family and friends, and I hope that gives you some comfort.

I cherish growing up together with the Kiser cousins and have so many memories of Dick's smiling eyes and big heart, his dry wit and enthusiasm, and fun and kindness he always showed us younger ones. I looked up to him then and still do!

Love to you always from the faraway nearby, across the pond,

Elizabeth (and my son Matt)

A better friend you could not ask for. Always ready with a smile, a warm hello and a cold beer! He would do anything for the people he loved and would always be willing to help a friend. We feel his loss today and will for many years to come.
Rest in peace, Dick. We're going to miss you.
