Robert Brady Obituary

Dr. Robert "Bob" Brady

Dr. Robert "Bob" Brady, age 78, of Reading, MI and Port Charlotte, FL (formerly Toledo, OH), passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2018.

Born and raised in Cincinnati, OH, he attended school at St. John the Baptist Church in Harrison, OH and St. Gregory Seminary in Cincinnati, OH. Bob received his AB and Master of Education at Xavier University, earned a Doctorate of Education from the University of Cincinnati and was a licensed psychologist in Ohio and Michigan.

He had private practices in Cincinnati, OH and Toledo, OH and did consulting work for many rehabilitation, developmental disabilities, and pain clinics. He also was the author of many published career and vocational tests. Bob was foremost a teacher and mentor; beginning his career at Taylor High School in Cleves, OH. He taught at the University of Toledo and was an Adjunct Professor Emeritus at Siena Heights University in Adrian, MI.

He was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Chapel in Fremont, OH and St. Francis of Assisi Church in Grove City, FL. Bob was an avid reader and knowledge seeker. He loved to travel, cook and preserve foods, and play golf. He listened to all types of music; his collection was eclectic and extensive. He enjoyed the outdoors; be it gardening, skiing, camping, boating or hiking. Fishing was a particularly strong bonding opportunity and he willingly shared his skills with others. He cherished time with family and friends; everyone was welcome! The multitude of pictures on the walls throughout his homes are a testament to this.

Bob is survived by his wife, Linda Brewster; his children, Eileen Beach (Robert), Dr. Brenda Brady, and Patrick Brady; his sisters, Sr. Brenda Brady and Kathy Rowekamp (Dennis); brother, Tom Brady (Cathy); uncle, James Brady; and nine nieces and nephews, along with many beloved family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Vera; and his sister, Patricia Schmidt. Bob touched the lives of so many people throughout his life. He found ways to make a difference and will be remembered as a devoted spouse, loving parent, and caring and nurturing spirit. His family, friends, and students will proudly carry his legacy forward. "Carry On," as he would say.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Chapel in Fremont, IN on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Church in Harrison, OH on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. with interment to follow. Luncheons will follow after each service at the respective churches.

Memorials may be made to the Dr. Robert P. Brady Scholarship Fund in care of The Adrian Rotary Foundation c/o Donna Baker, CPA, 102 Maumee St., Adrian, MI 49221.

I can't believe it's been a year. Maybe that's why he has been on my mind. Still miss him and all the love he shared.

Linda,
I am so sorry to hear of Bob's death. He was a strong influence in the personal and professional lives of so many. My time as his student has proven invaluable. I learned so much more than how to be a counselor. He provided a safe place to learn and grow, in order to be the authentic version of me. Teaching students to "Trust the process.", was his specialty. May God provide great comfort as you and your family move through this journey.

There's a perfect song by Kristin Chenowith called "I Was Here". It really sums up Bobs life. The words are beautiful. Miss him so much I can't. Believe he's gone but he lives on and left a great legacy for all of us. The song is on YouTube if anyone is interested . Linda may the Holy Spirit hold you in His arms and give you peace.Celeste Trepinski

Larry and I are so sorry to have learned about the untimely death of Bob. We were so looking forward to seeing you both at the crab feast at Tom and Cathy's.

Bob helped our grandson and us some years ago. He was a wonderful and dear man.

Linda, Brenda, Patrick, and Eileen, my heart goes out to you and my arms surround you during this time of grief and beyond. Bob was my friend, my teacher, my mentor, my confidant, my running partner, my colleague, and consistently encouraged me to actualize my potential.
In large part, I am the psychologist I am today because of the foundation he provided during my early professional development. We laughed, we cried, we argued, and we prayed together through some of the most vulnerable times in both of our lives. So many memories are aglow in my consciousness of the love that Bob shared with me. He called that love agape love and he embodied that love.
I could go on for pages expressing my gratitude for the blessings of Bob, but I will end with a mantra I took from him. When asked what my experience of being a psychologist is about, I quote Bob and say, ' ... saving lives and making the world a better place to be.' Rest in Power my dear friend and thank you for all that you contibuted to making this world a better place for all of us.

I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Bob's passing. Many a memory of working with him in the library. (He helped me cut my teeth in learning all about Mental Measurement Yearbooks and Tests in Print)!! His warmth, and smiles would light up the library.
My thoughts and prayers are with you Linda, and your family.

Brady Family, I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I loved the Brady family. I have known you all since being a great friend of his sister Pat Schmidt and her family since first grade at St. John's. I could relate to many of the items in the obituary: welcoming guests to their home in Michigan, his cooking expertise, and all. I miss seeing the family since Bernie's death. I will be looking forward to seeing you all at the Mass in Harrison next month. I had hoped to keep in touch with Pat's sons but I haven't done a good job of that. I am keeping you all in my prayers.

September 27, 2018

My deepest sympathies. May the "God of all comfort," help to ease the pain of your grief during this time.(1 Cor 1:3,4,,,
