Robert Brooker Obituary

Robert Fredrick Brooker of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away peacefully at the age of 60 after a two year battle with brain cancer. Rob was an MD over the past 30 years, graduating from the University of Chicago Medical School with honors and specialized in cardiac anesthesia for heart transplants. For the past 10+ years, he was Chief Cardiovascular Anesthesiologist at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida and dedicated his time to outstanding patient care and development of fellow doctors and staff. Rob was so highly regarded at Memorial that they are planning on dedicating an OR and a yearly lecture series in his name for his great work there. Before working at Memorial Regional, he did similar work and development of cardiac programs in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Las Vegas, Nevada and Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Outside of his life as a physician, Rob loved drag racing, working on cars, surfing and physical fitness. He got his love of cars from his dad and built and drove several modified fuel Chrysler drag cars, earning himself the nicknames Dr. Speed and Mr. Mopar. If he wasn't at the hospital taking care of patients or his staff, you could always find him in one of three places, his garage, at the beach or working out. His family, friends and work associates will truly miss him.
Rob leaves behind a loving girlfriend, Donna Parenti (daughter Laine); sister, Lynn Robinson (Mark); brother, Jeffrey Brooker (Karen); nephew and nieces, Jordan Brooker, Kiera Brooker and Lauren Edgerton (Eric); sister-in-law, Wendy Brooker; and grand-niece, Maeve Edgerton. Rob was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold S. and Jean A. Brooker; and older brother, Gregory A Brooker.
Friends are welcome to join family at a graveside service in Rob's honor to be held on Saturday, July 23rd at 11am at Wakeman Cemetery in Waterville, Ohio.

I just heard from a former colleague that Rob had passed away. My condolences to his family and friends. I worked with Rob for several years and he literally taught me everything I know about intraoperative TEE, for which I´m forever grateful. Thank you, Rob and rest in peace. He was a good man taken from us too soon.

I am happy I had the opportunity of seeing Rob when he was in Raleigh for his last visit with Duke. My sincere condolences to his family and to Anna and Wendy who assisted in his care during treatment
