Robert Hankenhof Obituary

Robert Joseph Hankenhof

Robert Joseph Hankenhof, age 67, of Toledo, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Charter Senior Living surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 21, 1957, in Toledo, OH, to Gene and Clare (Manion) Hankenhof. Robert graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1975, and earned an associate's degree in professional law enforcement from Owens Community College. He was an officer with the Sylvania Township Police Department for 32 years, retiring as a sergeant in 2014, and upon retirement, a courier for ProMedica Health for 7 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a longtime parishioner of Regina Coeli Catholic Church.

Robert loved the outdoors, traveling every year with his family to his favorite place, Spring Lodge in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, for fishing, swimming, and exploring the beautiful surroundings. A supportive and loving husband and father, he took great joy in his family and set a good example with his positive and encouraging demeanor. As a police officer he was brave, compassionate, fair, and able to maintain his composure. As a friend, he was loyal, supportive, and just fun to be around.

Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Anne (Potrzebowski) Hankenhof (married April 12, 1985); daughter, Megan Hankenhof; twin sons, Michael John and Robert Eugene Hankenhof; grandchildren, Olivia Hankenhof-Joplin, Atlas Hankenhof, and Theodore Denning; brothers, Gene (Mary), Tom (Terry), Jim (Barb), Jeff (Mary), and Steve (Kim) Hankenhof; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be Monday, July 28, from 4-8 p.m., at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., where members of the Regina Coeli Holy Name Society will lead a rosary at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, July 29, at 10 a.m., in Regina Coeli Catholic Church.

Memorial donations may be made to Regina Coeli Catholic Church or Regina Coeli School. Condolences can be shared at www.sujkowski.com.
