Robert Kalb Obituary

Robert "Bob" Lewis Kalb

Those who knew Bob Kalb knew a very loving, kind and compassionate man. The love for his family was endless. He always enjoyed helping one of his sons with any of their various home projects. His grandchildren were everything to him. Every time he saw them or talked about them, the love and pride was so evident. He was kind to everyone, whether he had known them for years or just met them. And when it came to his work he would always say, "I love what I do".

Robert Lewis Kalb, 77, of Petersburg, Michigan, after a five-year battle with Pancreatic Cancer, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2023, at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio Ebeid Center, with his loving wife and family beside him. Born on September 29, 1946, to Lewis R. Kalb and Janice H. (Suckstorf Kalb) Hudson in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he was the beloved husband of Dolores (Dee) Kalb.

In addition to his wife, Dee, Bob is survived by his sons, James (Kelly) Kalb, Jeffrey (Abbi) Kalb, Justin Kalb. He was also a proud grandfather to Grace, Bryce, Reece, Logan, Macy, Callen, and Cameron; sister, Bonnie (Peter) Goes; brother-in-law, Doug Kolling; and daughter-in-law, Trisha Kalb. Also, many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister-in-law, Bonnie Kolling.

Bob graduated from Bedford High School, class of 1964 and went on to attend the University of Toledo majoring in Electrical Engineering. In 1966, he was drafted into the Army. During his time with the Army, he was stationed in Redstone Alabama. While there he oversaw the maintenance of the Pershing Missile. During his career, Bob worked as an electrical engineer at Richards, Bauer and Moorhead, SSOE and JDRM Engineering. Some of his notable projects include electrical design for the Toledo Zoo Panda Exhibit, Radisson Hotel, Seagate Convention Center, Toledo Hospital, Flower Hospital and DTE Paducah KY.

You always knew when he was watching the Tigers, because you would hear him yelling at the players, managers and umpires! He had a passion for model trains and was a member of the Southern Michigan Railroad Society.
