Robert Placzkiewicz Obituary

Robert "Bob" "Parker" Placzkiewicz

Robert "Bob" "Parker" Placzkiewicz, lifelong resident of Toledo, OH. Born on July 4, 1940, to Stanley and Sophie (Wieczorek) Placzkiewicz, bid farewell to this world on March 16, 2024. Leaving behind a legacy etched in the waters and the hearts of many. A devoted Toledo Firefighter for 28 years, he also navigated the waves as a charter boat Captain for an impressive 47 years. His venture, the Parker Guide Service on Lake Erie, set sail in 1973 and remains a steadfast entity in the realm of charter boat businesses.

A pioneer and advocate, Bob was instrumental in forming the Lake Erie Charter Boat Association and the Lake Erie Sport Fishermen. His efforts helped secure walleye's status as a sport fish, safeguarding them from commercial netting in Lake Erie. A champion on both land and sea, he claimed victory in numerous fishing and duck calling tournaments, earning a well-deserved spot in the Lake Erie Hall of Fame in 1994.

In his 64 years of marriage, he found solace and strength with his beloved wife, Kathy "Toots" (Lentz) Placzkiewicz. Through the years they enjoyed many trips together. Eventually spending their winters in Naples, FL. Along the way, often stopping at casinos to play the slot machines.

He is survived by his wife and sons, Jeffrey "Jeff" (Debbie) Placzkiewicz of Toledo, OH and Michael "Mike" (Patricia) Placzkiewicz of Maumee, OH; grandchildren, Kristie, Michael "Junior" (Amber) and Monica Placzkiewicz. Along with great-grandchildren, Destiney Dent, Weston and Delilah Placzkiewicz. An outdoorsman at heart, Bob's passion for both fishing and hunting knew no bounds. Yet his greatest joy stemmed from the love he shared with his family, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and five siblings, Harry (Adeline) Parker, Virginia (Edmund) Pajak, Eleanor (Ernest) Fulop, Chester (Lottie and Alberta) Placzkiewicz, and Helen (Bill) Leon.

As the sun sets on Bob's earthly journey, his spirit and accomplishments ripple through the waters he navigated and the lives he touched. May his legacy endure, much like the enduring waves of Lake Erie he called home.

Bob was a great fireman, fisherman, and person. I had a good time working with Bob at 17s in the late 1980s, he always took all the guys from the firehouse on our annual summer fishing trip. I will be praying for Bob and his family.
