Rosella Mary (Rectenwald) Hoffman
Rosella "Mickey" (Rectenwald) Hoffman passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the age of 91, surrounded by her loving children after a battle with Alzheimer's. Born on April 14, 1934, to Henry and Bertha Rectenwald in Perrysburg, Ohio. She graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1952, as a member of the National Honor Society. After graduation she worked at Houcks Drug Store and later at Ohio Bell Telephone Company in downtown Toledo. She married the love of her life, Paul Hoffman, on October 3, 1953, at St. Rose Catholic Church, then soon became a stay-at-home mom to raise their 6 children. Through the years, she also worked at Kubiak Bakery, Sears Credit Central, served as a Dispatcher for NCR Corp., and Tolco Corp. before retiring in 1998. There wasn't a day that went by that you didn't smell food cooking in the house. Mom was an excellent cook, she made many wonderful homemade meals and desserts. Mickey had many interests which included square dancing and polka dancing. They enjoyed camping in the summer when the children were younger. They also loved travelling and went on 10 trips throughout the U.S., England, Wales, and to Ireland to see Daniel O'Donnell in concert with Marv Herzog Tours. They also attended Hershey, Pennsylvania, every fall for the antique car swap meet, Greenfield Village for the annual Old Car Festival, and went on many antique car club tours. They also attended old car shows at the Toledo Sports Arena and Civic Auditorium. Mickey was a member of the American Legion Post 642, Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary 639, Treasurer of the USA Seniors, St. Charles Euchre Club, attended breakfast groups for NCR and Plaskon Retirees and the Plaskon Christmas parties and summer picnics at Roche de Boeuf. When Mickey went on Casino trips, she never came home empty handed. They attended as many of their grandchildren's programs and sporting events as possible. Mickey looked forward to the annual "Cornelius Family Reunion," and the "Hoffman Family Christmas Party." She enjoyed making Christmas cookies with her daughters, of which their favorites were her "Brazil Nut Sticks" and "Sugar Cutout Cookies." Most of all, Mickey enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mickey and Paul celebrated 60 years of marriage before his passing in June of 2014.
