Ruth Klein Obituary

KLEIN
Ruth Louise
Ruth (Ott) Klein, 84, went peacefully but unexpectedly to her heavenly home Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at MCO Hospital, surrounded by family. Ruth was born April 24, 1932, in Toledo, OH, to Andrew and Elnora Ott. She was a graduate of Libbey High School and then trained and became an X-ray Tech. Ruth married husband Don in 1959, and they had 52 years together before he passed in 2011. She worked many years at the Toledo Clinic as the Head X-Ray Technician before stepping down to raise her two children. She spent many hours as a room mother and volunteer in the lunch room to one or both of her children's classes at Trinity, and loved attending all of their many activities. Her house was the one where kids often gathered, and many affectionately called her Mom. She returned to work in the late 1970s, and worked at MCO in the Radiology Department until her retirement in the mid-1990s, where she was known to all as “Ruby”. Ruth was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was a Walther League counselor, active in the Altar Guild, played handbells, and sang in the choir. She loved to travel and enjoyed several cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska with family. She took great pride and joy attending her grandchildren's many games, concerts, and activities, and enjoyed attending both of their graduations from OSU.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and siblings, John (Elma) Ott, Ralph Ott, and Elanore (Howard) Drager. She is survived by son, Don (Joan) Klein and daughter, Diane (Michael) Thorpe; grandchildren, Allison and Andrew Klein; sister-in-law, Doris Ott, and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will take place at Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, May 27. The funeral will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4560 Glendale Avenue at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016, with viewing in the narthex of the church the hour preceding the service. Private interment will be at a later date for immediate family. The family requests memorials to be made to the Altar Guild at Trinity Lutheran Church. Her and Don were great neighbors who would help you anyway they could. The kind you leave your extra house key with. Together they raised two kind and respectful children. The Trinity family lost a true warrior for Christ. God rest your soul Ruth.

Don(Donnie) and Diane and your families: My sincere sympathies to you both. I have such fond memories of both your parents. They were Walther Counselors with my folks when I was a Jr & Sr in high school. Imagine that!! May our Risen Saviour
bring you comfort and peace in the days ahead as you mourn your Mom. She was great lady, always a lot of fun. Peace, Jan Miller Koechley

Don and Diane, I remember your mom as our room mother and always being around to help. When I was at your home, she always made me feel welcome and comfortable. Whether it was a basketball game, field day or anything else, she was always there to support and encourage you and us. She leaves a legacy of joy and faith for others to follow. May God be with you now and in the days to come.
