October 16, 1923 - June 16, 2025
Ruth Rebecca (Stimmel) Metzger, 101, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Kingston of Perrysburg.
She was born on October 16, 1923, in Hoytville, Ohio, to Isaac L. and Lottie (Rickerd) Stimmel. Ruth was a graduate of Jackson Township High School. She married Daryl Metzger in 1946, and was married for 71 years until Daryl's passing in 2017. Ruth was a homemaker who loved to sew, crochet, craft and garden. She made clothes for her children and grandchildren along with Barbie doll clothes and other items. When Daryl retired, they enjoyed line and square dancing, fishing and camping.
Ruth's greatest joy was her 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and her 2 great-great-grandsons.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Daryl; and her siblings, Earl Stimmel, Bernita Dennis, Cinda Leonard, Raymond "John" Stimmel and Lois Bodmer.
Ruth is survived by her children, John (Kathleen) Metzger, Jeanne (Ed) McNett and Sharon (Tom) Rudnicki; as well as 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and her 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 27th, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 6149 Hill Ave., Toledo, OH, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to Our Lady of Lourdes Endowment Fund.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Kingston of Perrysburg and to Hospice of Northwest Ohio for all they did for Ruth.

I have precious memories of Ruth, her cheerful laughter and banter, the fried chicken she and sister could cook. As a child my sister and I planned days for our summer week at Stimmel farm. Ruth was a great person and cousin.
