Sam Maluso Obituary

Sam Anthony Maluso

04/10/1946 - 12/30/2020

Sam Anthony Maluso, 74, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. Sam was born on Wednesday, April 10, 1946, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Sam and Velma (Pinkerton) Maluso. He married the love of his life, Pamela Bartlomain on Friday, December 4, 1981, and they shared 39 wonderful years together.

As a dedicated employee at the Postal Service for 38 years, Sam retired as Manager of Postal Operations of NW Ohio in April 2003. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing poker, and loved the Ohio State Buckeyes. Eighteen years ago, Sam received the life saving gift of a liver transplant, and three months ago was blessed with a kidney from his niece. He was a hard worker who loved spending time with his family and traveling to sunny Hilton Head Island with the grandkids. In addition, he reached a lifelong dream of visiting Italy with his wife and siblings in 2017. Sam's familiar face will be missed by many golf clubs around town, his Mesquite golfing buddies, and his family and friends.

Sam is survived by his devoted and caring wife, Pamela; loving children, Lisa (Mark) Levi of Maumee, Christine (Charlie) Szczechowski of Monclova, Rebecca Maluso of Inverness, FL, Carla (Brett) Rygalski of Waterville, and Marc Maluso of Maumee; adoring grandchildren, Luke and Joshua Levi, Samantha Szczechowski, Noah and Lucy Rygalski. He will forever be admired by his siblings, Richard (Betsy) Maluso, Patrick (Stephanie) Maluso, Joseph (Bernadette) Maluso, Tina Maluso, and Robert (Sandy) Maluso, and his special hero, Melissa Karman. Sam was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, January 7, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 104 E. Broadway Street, Maumee, Ohio 43537. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. To safely celebrate Sam's life, a memorial golf tournament will be held this summer. To view the Memorial Mass, the family encourages you to visit the St. Joseph Parish, Maumee Youtube channel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Sam's name to Life Connection of Ohio, 3661 Briarfield Blvd, Suite 105, Maumee, Ohio 43537. Arrangements by Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, Maumee. Condolences may be made online to the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com.

I have played many rounds of golf with Sammy,we always enjoyed our time. As a matter of fact I had a couple of extra tickets to the Ohio State football game and we met there and reminisced about the old times. What a great time. Sam was one of the nicest guys ever and I will miss him.

I did not know Sam very well, but I worked with Pam in Sylvania. I know what a loving and devoted wife she was, and it seemed like they had a dream marriage. My sympathies and prayers go out to Pam and all the Family.

I'm thankful that Sam was part of my postal family. We agreed and disagreed and I learned something useful from both. Gone too soon.
