Scott Collum Obituary

Scott Michael Collum

Scott Michael Collum, age 44, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes, Tuesday evening, November 7, 2017. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 13, 1973 to Elaine Marie (Sniadecki) Helminiak and she survives. He attended Swanton High School and Penta County Vocational School, graduating in 1991. On September 21, 2004 Scott married Shannon Keil at Lake Tahoe.

Scott worked as a grinder machinist for Fiat Chrysler Toledo Machining Plant. He enjoyed fixing and working on computers, working on his truck and riding three-wheelers. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Dale Earnhart, Jr. fan. Scott was also a Civil War and WWII buff and spent time watching the History Channel. He also had a love for arborvitae trees. His most precious times were those spent with his family. One of the most memorable highlights of his life was in September 2014, when his family vacationed in Hawaii!

Besides his loving wife of 13 years, Shannon, and adoring mother, Elaine, Scott is survived by his brother, Donald, Jr. Collum; mother-in-law, Vicki Keil; brother-in-law, Kraig (Lora) Keil; special nephew and niece, Collin Keil and Kara Keil; great-aunt, Evelyn Nagy; Godparents, Mark Malak and Barbara Bayse and his special canine companions, Lucy and Desi.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Helminiak; and father-in-law, Craig Keil.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 13th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 204 Chestnut St. in Swanton (419.826.2631), where funeral services will begin at 1 p.m., with Pastor Matthew Lash officiating. Interment will follow at St. Richard's Cemetery.

I miss you every day honey. Every hour, every minute and every second of each and every day. I love you with all of my heart and still cannot believe that you are gone. I still wake up each morning hoping this has all just been a horrible nightmare. I hope you somehow know how much you are loved and missed and always will be. I love you.....forever....
