As a 1985 Rogers graduate, I am so saddened to hear of the passing of our wonderful teacher. Mrs. Sebree was such a major influence in my life. She made me feel valued and I always knew she believed in me. I didn´t pursue a degree in music but I have continued to sing throughout my life: weddings, church, and community theater. Mrs. Sebree was fundamental in instilling in me a true love and appreciation for music. I will never forget her. (And I can´t believe she put up with all of our high school shenanigans, oh my, I hope she found a way to laugh it off! I had no idea she was working on her DOCTORATE at the time! What a Superwoman!) Thank you for everything, Mrs. Sebree. Now you are making music with the angels!

Mrs. Sebree was instrumental in my child, Tedra Green's life. Tedra was in the Rogers High School choir. She gave her a music scholarship to Kentucky State University, Frankfort, Kentucky. Tedra received a Bachelor's Degree majoring in Music. Tedra went on to share her gift teaching Music in the Toledo Public Schools, singing in a community gospel group, and teaching individuals piano lessons.
Many thanks to Dr. Sebree for the part she played in my child's music history. I am sure Tedra would support the family; however, she preceded her in death April 17, 2020. On behalf of Tedra our prayers are with her husband and family.

Mr. Sebree, and everyone else who Loves Mrs. Sebree, God Bless You. And, may He comfort you and Keep you in the palm of His hand--and wipe away every tear 'til your hearts heal. I am broken, right along with you. Mr. Sebree knows what my relationship with them was like: spending more than half of my day in her classroom (Rhythmaires/Theory/Concert Choir, Student Aide), mowing their lawn when they vacationed to Hawaii, ushering and singing Hawaiian songs at her "Pele's Tears" book launch/signing, chaperoning her students to Mammoth Caves. Up until her, I'd always planned on studying Secondary English Education in College. Because of her, I switched to music education. She was an exemplary mentor, leader, neighbor, Christian, and human being.
Rest In Peace, Ma'am.
Love Always,
Marvin J.

To the family,
I will always cherish the time I spent with Shirley at Rogers HS and on many concert choir tours as a chaperone. We ate lunch together daily. She was an outstanding educator and a wonderful friend. She will be missed.
I send this with greatest sympathy.

Dr. Sebree taught me the love music, and I've taken it with me throughout my life. She was my choir director at Rogers H.S. from 1984-1988, she pushed me to resound with my deep bass voice. My condolences.

Mrs. Degree will long be remembered and honored. She was my music teacher at East Side Central School 2nd thru 8th grades. We loved her for her passion of music and teaching. She introduced us to various genres of music, that we might otherwise have never known. She had command of her classroom, yet that beautiful, warm smile. She loved her students, and we loved her back. Throughout the years, I would often think of her, especially whenever I would her Dion. It was 1976 when I graduated 8th grade from East Side Central, and all of my life I have been passionate for music. Thank you Mrs. Sebree for instilling that passion and understanding. Your memory lives on in our hearts. You were one of the best teachers ever to pick up the baton. Rest in Heaven.

Mrs. Sebree was a wonderful teacher. When I was at ESC, she turned me on to my love of opera by giving me a ticket to see Madame Butterfly at, what was then, the Masonic. Thank you for sharing your gift of music with so many. The world has lost one of its best.
