Dear Aunt Mary Pat and Family

It was very sad hearing about Steve's passing away. Every year or so my Dad (Bob Tiernan SR) would make it a point to visit his couisns in Toldeo. The fun times we had with Steve,Terry, and the rest of the kids are times I will never forget. Swimming In Uncle Jim's pool, and seeing how many kids we could crowd into it!!!!. Like his entire family Steve was a very kind, and caring person towards other people.

The kindness he showed my family when my Dad passed away in 1992 was wonderful!!! He also attended my sister Kathy's wedding in 1982. Both Steve and his brother Terry showed great class, and honor in any event they were at while here in Calif. Uncle Jim and Aunt Mary Pat can feel very proud of all their kids. May God bless the entire Schoen family and may Steve rest in peace with God.

Dear Mary Pat and Family
My deepest sympathy to all of you.
Even though we have lost touch for many years I spent almost as much time in your home as my own and always was made to feel like part of the family.I remember watching Neal Armstong take his giant leap for mankind sitting on a couch with Larry and little brother Steve sleeping in a chair near by.

A big family is a comfort to each other at a great time of loss. I remember Steve was a warrior at St. John's High School on the football field and on the wrestling mat. Stevie was one of those rare breeds who never lost his passion and heart for life, despite whatever challenges were thrown his way. A friend since first grade, I hadn't seen him in many years and then we bumped into each other at Westgate about five years ago and spent the next four hours (much to my wife's dismay) talking about our lives, marriages and children -- and all the wonderful mysteries of the universe. I swore that if we had kept talking that night, we would have solved all the world's problems. Deep inside, Steve never lost his optimism -- and endearing quality that really defined him. His passing reminds us all about the fragility of life and that we need to pay attention to the people who matter most in our lives. God be with you, my brother. You'll always be in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Aunt Mary Pat and Family,
It was with a heavy heart that I was deeply saddened to open the email from my sister Linda Wheeler and read of Stephen's passing. The last time I saw Stephen he was with his brother Terry. They had both flown out to California as ambassador's of "good will" to attend my father's funeral, Robert W Tiernan, back in 1992. I remember Stephen and Terry being such uplifting heros to my family in our time of sorrow. The entire time the Schoen gentlemen spent in California, they set about doing comforting, caring and compassion deeds, that put my grieving family at ease. We celebrated my father's life with a traditional Irish wake... Steve's smile and fun loving spirit were contagious in leading countless choruses of "Oh Danny Boy" and raising glasses to the Irish toast: May neighbours respect you, trouble neglect you, the angels protect you, and heaven accept you!It was a grand time of grieving and the Schoen men helped make the difference! Our thoughts and prayers are with you... May you have the courage that Stephen gave me in grieving my father's passing...And the comfort knowing he has the heart of a giant, ... and when you think of him, it's not how he died that you remember - but how he lived. ..."Oh Boy how he lived!" God Bless You.

Dear Aunt Mary Pat and all of Steve's brothers and sisters:

I was so saddened when Ted's wife (Mary) called and told me of Steve's passing. I have such fond memories of all of our family reunions and cousin parties, Steve in particular stands out in my mind. He never had to stop for a minute to think about "which cousin" he was talking to - it was always "Peggy!!!" and always with a big smile. And of course, followed by a hug, or should I say "the Schoen hug". I hope your memories of all the fun and special times you had with Steve will help you through this challenging time.

My son, Nicholas, is a doctor in the emergency room at St. V's and knew the Schoen name right away. I only wish that he had known Steve! I'm very sorry that I will not be able to be at Gesu tomorrow. My work schedule is very demanding and I am unable to leave even for a short time. I also work in the emergency room and my co-worker will not be here to cover me.

My prayers are with all -

Peggy Kurt-Logsdon
