In hearing of Dr. Snedden's passing, my knees felt weak and I lay my head in my hands asking "Why?". Dr. Snedden took such wonderful care of my son who is now 4 years old. I trusted whatever he said. I'll never forget the first time we met in the son is the youngest and the only boy...I told him my little one is sick but how thankful I was to have a little boy. He would always talk about how proud of his girls he was. It has been something that always stuck in my head. So, with that in mind, to his daughters: you were blessed with a wonderful father who was very proud of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I am so sincerely sorry for your loss. Dr. Snedden saved my life a few years ago, and never gave up on me, even when things looked the worst. He comforted my family through the hell of my two-week coma and was the first person I saw when I awoke. He is the reason I am here today. Dr. Snedden touched my life and so many others, and I for one will hold him dear in my heart. Take care of each other.

We are so sorry to hear for your loss. Dr. Sneddin was one of my son's CF doctors. He was like a part of our family, I knew whatever Dr Sneddin said was what was best for our son. I believed that he would only do what was best for our son and I truly valued that. We will greatly miss him and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. I often wonder why such great people are taken so early, just know that he is in a better place now and he has been such a "blessing" to so many people. I will remember him for the last time we seen him when my son was in the hospital back in December and when he smiled and wanted a high five from my son before he left the room and my son gave him one. He was truly and great man and always put his patients first.

My son has been a patient at Pediatric Pulmonary for the better part of a decade and while everyone involved with the practice has been great, I remember the conversations that Dr Snedden had with my son more than any others. Dr Snedden always took the time to really talk to Sam - find out about school, any new activities and so on. Sam enjoyed those talks and I enjoyed watching a true professional who not only cared about my son's health but his entire well-being. It was a privilege to know him. My sincerest sympathy to the entire Snedden Family.

Dr. Snedden was such a wonderful man. He was an incredible doctor and so intelligent. My son started seeing him as an infant for asthma, and has been monitoring him ever since. Dr. Snedden touched our lives in an immeasurable way as he had touched so many others. Our family will truely miss him. God Bless.

To the family of Dr. Snedden
I can't begin to express my sorrow for your loss. Dr. Snedden took care of my daughter, Meghan, when she suffered a severe asthma attack and was in a coma for 10 days. He was a comfort to both our daughter and to us. He helped in giving her back to us from this crisis. Meghan and I stopped by to see the staff in the office in December and were very fortunate to find Dr. Snedden there. I know we will treasure the short time we were able to visit with him. I cannot imagine your pain in having to say goodbye to him. Please know that our family will forever hold Dr. Snedden in our hearts as we do your family. Sincerely, Teresa, Scott, Rick and Meghan (Terlep) Ritz.

In my high school yearbook, Steve wrote "From one small guy to another. Don't let your size get you down. It's how much you have in your mind that counts . . ." And, as you have shown, Steve, your heart as well.

I owe some of the best memories of my youth to Steve. My first camping trips (in Scout Troop 5), my first water skiing experience, a trip up the Huron River in his Boston Whaler (the harbor police gave him a warning for speeding), and those 30 mile training rides culminating in our tour of the Scioto River Valley -- a real boost for my teenage ego. I wouldn't be biking to work today if it weren't for you, Steve.

Our 4th grade art teacher sent us out into the hall for acting too "smart". (It didn't endear us to her that we then commenced marching drills out there.) Our high school Latin teacher also sent us out -- for independent study because, well, we were a little too smart.

Gordon, I share your regret for not looking up this old friend.

May the angels welcome him to Paradise. And may God comfort his family during the separation of our sojourning here.

To the entire Snedden family,
I just want to take a moment to tell all of you what a wonderful person Dr. Snedden was, but I am sure you all are well aware of this. I have worked with Dr. Snedden for the past seven years at Toledo Children's Hospital first as a Unit Clerk and now as a Nurse. Dr. Snedden...or Steve as he would kindly correct me from time to time. Not only was Steve an excellent doctor and passionate about his patients he also cared for his staff. He always asked for our input on the care of our patients. Speaking for myself he always had confidence in me and always gave me encouragement when I was not feeling so confident in myself which made me feel more at ease. It was an Honor to have worked with Steve and I am truly going to miss Steve's smiling happy face around TCH. As my thoughts and prayers are with you all during this tragic time God Bless!

To Dr Sneddan's Family & Co-Workers
Our hearts are heavy at the lost of Dr Sneddan. We had just been to see him at the clinic in Sandusky in December. Dr. Sneddan and Jim were constantly talking about the Indians and Ohio State. He never tired of Jim's questions, and alwas was teasing him. We've know Dr. Sneddan for many years. He has taken care of Jim through many an asthma/respiratory problem. In 2000 Dr. Sneddan saved Jim's life. Thank you so much for sharing him with us. He will truly be missed.

Dear Jenny, girls and the Snedden family,
It is so difficult to find words to express what we all are feeling at this sad time. Our hearts are very heavy. Here is a passage from the bible that we wanted to share with you. Steve, was one of these. We feel this could well be a eulogy to him. It is entitled Physicians and Health. "Honor physicians for their services, for the Lord created them; for their gift of healing comes from the Most High, and they are rewarded by the king. The skill of physicians makes them distinguished, and in the presence of the great they are admired. The Lord created medicines out of the earth, and the sensible will not despise them. Was not water made sweet with a tree in order that its power might be known? And He gave skill to human beings that He might be glorified in His marvelous works. By them the physician heals and takes away pain; the pharmacist makes a mixture from them. God's works will never be finished; and from Him health spreads over all the earth." Sirach 38: 1-8. With our love and prayers for all of you. Jim and Charlotte Gray

To the family of Dr. Snedden,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Dr. Snedden took excellent care of our son Joseph Grindstaff very recently at Toledo Peds ICU after he was involved in a very serious accident. Joseph was released from the hospital exactly one week prior to Dr. Snedden's accident and hearing the news about the accident really touched our hearts. He was an awesome doctor and was great relating to children when they are going through a difficult time. He will be greatly missed. I am so thankful that we had the opportunity to have Dr. Snedden and all of the doctors in his group during a very difficult time. Your family will be in our thoughts, prayers and our hearts for many years to come.

To the Snedden Family,
I was in awe when I heard the news on television of Dr. Stephen’s passing. I am an adult patient with Cystic Fibrosis and I had just seen Stephen on Thursday of last week for a check up. With out the help of Stephen and the rest of the doctors and staff I don’t believe I would have what I have today. I am now 26, I have a beautiful wife and son and another baby on the way. Had it not been for the encouragement that I received from Stephen I would not be as successful in life as I am today. I will greatly miss him, as I always looked forward to our conversations about our Ford Mustangs. He would talk about his car as if it was his fourth child and I spoke of mine the same way. I will miss him dearly. My thoughts and prayers go out to you Jennifer, Jessica, Nicole, Michelle and family. The world is truly a lesser place with out Stephen in it.

When my son was diagnosed as an infant with bronchiolitis, pnemonia, and RSV, Dr. Snedden was at the hospital and helped reassure my husband and I that he would be ok. We had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Snedden on a regular basis over the past four years. He always had a smile for our son and made him feel at ease. He will be greatly missed when we do visit the pulmonary office again. Our deepest sympathy to Dr. Snedden's family, friends and co-workers.

Snedden Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We were so sad and shocked to hear the news. Dr. Snedden took care of our daughter during a 16 day stay at Toledo Children's Hospital. After we left he asked us to come back just for a social visit so he could see how much progress she had made. He was such a compassionate doctor and knew just what to say to help ease the pain. He will be sadly missed. Please know that he will always remain in the hearts of all those he touched no matter how briefly. May God bless you all during this difficult time.

We had the great pleasure of meeting Dr. Snedden this past summer with the infant monitor program. He was a wonderful and caring doctor to our three daughters. Words cannot describe how the news of Steve's passing has affected my husband, Michael. Michael and Steve have been life long friends. Steve was the best man in our wedding and Michael has been so proud and honored to have known Steve...

Although they were separated by miles and busy with life, they always knew that either one of them could count on the other...

I remeber how Mike found comfort in Steve's medical knowledge when I was facing a life threatening illness in my life a few years ago... Steve had a way of being honest about what was happening without causing Mike to be fearful...

There is something about friends you have had since childhood and I know that Michael cherished all the times the he and Steve spent growing up.. from SMO (small men's organization - of course they were the founding members!)to the band memories in high school...the fun times at OSU, NYC and much more...

Although I did not experience those good times personally, I feel like I did whenever Mike spoke of Stephen...

I don't think friedships like this are all that common and if you have the luxury of having such a friendship then consider yourself blessed beyond words!

Jenny and the girls are in my prayers...

My wife, Jonna, and I are devastated at the loss of Steve. He was a gentle, thoughtful and compassionate man and an intellectually honest physician. I will strive to be more like him as a physician in the future.

I didn't know your husband personnaly. I read that he was an on-site physician at the Asthma Camp in Defiance, Ohio. My daughter Melissa attended the asthma camp for two years. She really enjoyed going to asthma camp. I'm sure we may have talked to Dr. Snedden at camp. Without him, many children with asthma wouldn't have been able to experience camp like other healthy children could. What a great thing he did. Our deepest sympathy, Karen and Melissa Baer

Two of our children are patients at The Pediatric Pulmonology and CF Center, and Dr. Snedden did our daughter's last bronchoscopy. I remember how much he put her at ease, and just rubbed her little head while he did the scope. He was such a gentle doctor, and I could tell that he really cared for these kids.

To the Snedden family - you are in our prayers during this horribly difficult time. Thank you for sharing your husband/father/son/brother with this community.

There is something very special about the people who heal our children. It is not only the compassion, humor and support they give to families on the long road of chronic illness, it is the respect they have earned along the way. Respect that comes from colleagues and friends, but also from the many, many patients whose lives are forever touched.
It is with very deep sympathy and sorrow that I express my sincere gratitude for the care Jeffrey has received over the last several years; they were often difficult ones and the expertise and professionalism by which we were treated were always mirrored by humor and warmth. Jeffrey and Lydia always feel like such special patients when they see the "Choo-choo-train-doctors" and I thank you all for your dedication to the lives and health of children.
With deep sadness,

We are deeply shocked and saddened to hear of Steve's untimely passing. We have not seen him for over 17 years, since he was our first son's pediatrician in Sandusky.
Before that, a flood of memories comes. We 'grew up together' from Ontario Elementary through Sandusky High School and we enjoyed many great times, sharing time in classes and in band.
His passing hits especially close, since I and my sons hit the road bicycling. Steve played an unknowing part in that, since he got me out a few times way back when. I often think of the times we had gone out when I'm on the road.
Our sincerest condolences and prayers go out to his family. May the God of all comfort hold you in the palm of His hand, may His Spirit grant you peace that passes understanding and the assurance of seeing him again.

My family was very saddened to learn of Dr. Snedden’s death. You and your family will remain in our prayers as you have been for the last 9 years. I took my son to see Dr. Snedden in July of 1997, and he saved my son’s life. We went that day for routine testing and during the course of the day Dr. Snedden was able to isolate my son's problem - he had a tumor, which turned out to be stage 4 cancer. My family will never forget this man, for without his warm gentle manner, listening ear and patience for a frustrated mother - my son would not be here. Maybe 4 or 5 years after my son completed treatment he saw Dr. Snedden up on the 5th floor of Toledo Hospital and he walked up to him and introduced himself, and thanked him personally. At that moment my son became a man. My family will always be grateful. We hope the stories that are written on these pages give you some comfort and something to hold on to during this time.
Fondly, Mary, Tedd and Samantha Kurtz

Our deepest sympathy goes out to the Snedden family for this tragic loss. My daughter is a patient at the Northwest Ohio Pediatric Pulmonary and CF Center, and she just saw Dr Snedden on Thursday of last week, he came into the room with a big smile on his face, and was pleased at the progress she was making. At this time of such great saddness, it is comforting to both my daughter and I, that we will have the memory of his cheerful smile, and his caring manner in which we saw him last. We will never forget what a wonderful doctor he was, and that god truly blessed us with a very wonderful individual, who served his profession with a great passion of caring, and willingness to help make all the children well. We will miss you very much Dr. Snedden, may god be with you, and may he be there for your family, friends, colleagues, and patients, to help ease the pain and suffering of your tragic passing. To Jenny, Jessica, Nicole and Michelle,

I can count on one hand the number of true friends I have had in my life - and Steve was one of them. He was a kind and gentle man, who was always willing to lend a helping hand and offer a kind word of support and advice.

Steve lived life to its fullest. I always admired his pluck and determination. I will forever remember our road trips together in medical school to visit our then girlfriends and now wives. I will miss him more than words can convey. I just wish I could have spoken to him one more time...

Steve loved you all dearly. His wife and three daughters were everything to him. Imelda and I are there for you all - no matter what you need, reach out and we will be there for you.

Much love and gratitude for being part of Steve's all too short life.

Our family was so saddened to hear about the death of Dr. Snedden. My son has been a patient of his for many years and is heartbroken. We want the family to know how much we cherished not only Dr. Snedden's knowledge, but also his ability to make everyone important. We will very much miss him.

Jennifer, Dr Snedden (Sr.), Graeme, and all the family,

I am stunned and my heart is filled with remorse. I just never seemed to get around to calling or writting.

Steve was a catalyst in my early life: it was his challenge of "who can make it to Eagle first" that prompted me to become an Eagle Scout. He was the one who got me started bicycling: 7 miles out to his house; a quick 30+ around the country side; and another 7 mile ride back into Sandusky. If it was not for Steve, I would not take these 100 miles per day, several day sightseeing trips.
I also remember going up to Detroit and into Canada on the boat with his parents just before our freshman year of school. There were so many trips and stories and jokes. I loved him and will sorely miss his.

May God bless you and your families, and may your memories be a comfort to you.

Steve was a wonderful physician and mentor. He taught me so much not only about the pulmonary care of my patients, but about how to be balanced in work, family and career. In my private practice I knew he and his group were always there for the difficult case and I will greatly miss the words of advice and encouragement he often provided. What a great loss to all of us.....
