Sutton Brown Obituary

Sutton Daniel Brown

Sutton Daniel Brown, 4 years old, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan after an almost two year battle with ETMR brain cancer.

Sutton was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 8, 2018, to Laura (Sutton) Brown and Hunter Brown. He is survived by his parents; and grandparents, Dan and Karen Guba, Mason and Jeannie Brown, and Bill and Mary Sutton. He is also survived by his uncles and aunts, Nate Keiper and Lindsay Sutton and their children Ivy and Violet, and Matt and Jeannie Thacker and their children Liberty, Jamison, and Sadie; and his special friends Julie (Aunt JuJu), and Ava Thoman. Sutton was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Charlotte.

Sutton was a true gift to everyone he met. He was known for his sweet voice, sparkling blue eyes, sense of humor, and love for his family and friends. He adored trains and would gleefully watch any railroad track he went by to see if a train was coming. He also loved Peppa Pig, cars, construction vehicles, and sharks. Sutton was our favorite guy, our sunshine, and we love him beyond measure.

Sutton's family would like to give thanks to the hematology and oncology staff at Mott Children's Hospital for their wonderful treatment and care of Sutton, especially Dr. Carl Koschmann, and Sutton's favorite nurse, Grace. Also at Mott's, thanks to Dr. Hugh Garton for his expertise and support, and Dr. Michelle Kim and the radiation staff for creating a home away from home.

Special thanks also to Dr. Anthony Palmer and the hematology and oncology staff at Toledo Children's Hospital for taking such good care of him; Dr. Paul Klimo at LeBonheur Hospital for working so hard to remove Sutton's tumor; Dr. Nick Vitanza at Seattle Children's Hospital for helping to provide hope; Dr. Derek Hanson for relentlessly working to cure tumors like Sutton's; and the staff of the Rare Tumor Program at Atrium Health Levine Children's for creating novel methods for increasing survival rates for children with cancer.

There will be no services at this time, but Sutton's family would love a donation, in Sutton's name, to the Koschmann Lab at the University of Michigan, Tackle Kids Cancer at Hackensack Meridian Health, The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Beat Childhood Cancer Research Consortium, or any organization dedicated to beating the scourge of childhood cancer.
