Tara Jones Obituary

Tara (Sullivan) Jones

Tara passed away unexpectedly on July 30, 2020, in Naples, Florida. After attending the University of Toledo, Tara worked for a number of years as a social worker. A lifelong lover of sports, many of her friends were made on the tennis courts and golf courses in Naples and Toledo. Every room she entered she did so with a smile and they were contagious.

She is survived by her spouse, Willis Jones of Sylvania, OH/Naples, FL; five children, Mark (Larry Lipper) Stephens, John (Stacey) Stephens, Mark Jones, Julie Lowery and Michael (Emily) Jones; her two brothers, Dick (Carleen) Sullivan, Kevin (Lyn) Sullivan; her nine grandchildren, Addison, Ashley, Colton, Ryan, Amanda, Jacob, Mikey, Jack and Max. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilma and John Sullivan; her sister, Colleen (Sullivan) Honsberger.

A celebration of life is planned on Sunday, August 23rd, from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at Shorty's Back Forty located at 5215 Monroe St. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Melanoma Research Alliance.

I grew up with Tara on Carolina Drive in Perrysburg. Classy person. Can't recall anything negative she ever said. Her whole family was caring, loving people. She will be missed by many. Thoughts and prayers for her family

She was an amazing friend who was always interested in my life no matter what was going on in her own life. I knew her in high school and we texted the day before she died and she was just the same then as she was 50 years earlier. I already miss her, but I’m so lucky I could call her a friend.

Tara was a wonderful friend and tennis partner. We had so many good times after Monday evening tennis at Wilderness. We also enjoyed sharing family activities and worshipping the Lord at Naples Community Church. She lived her faith in the kindness and caring she showed others in daily living. We will all miss you, Tara.

I’ve only know Tara for about a year. We met while getting radiation treatments at U of M. We developed a bond going through this and totally understood what the other was dealing with. I will miss my friend!

I went to high school with Tara and only remember that she was the most pleasant of people, kind and always smiling. I remember I was so happy to reconnect with her on FB. A true loss to humanity.
