Thelma F. Zwyer

Thelma F. Zwyer, 97, of Monclova, died on June 15, 2018 at Lakes of Monclova under the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born on October 12, 1920 to Omer and Leta Morrison, and she was married in Maumee on October 26, 1940 to Raymond J. Zwyer. They were married at St. Joseph's Church and remained together for 61 years before Ray's passing on January 5, 2002. She was a 1935 graduate of the former Monclova School.

She was a homemaker and instrumental in starting Ray Zwyer and Sons egg business and worked in it for many years. Thelma was a Lifetime member of the Monclova Community Center/Historical Foundation and a member of the Senior's group which met every Tuesday to play cards for many years. She also played cards with the Bowling Green Senior's group. She was a member of the Young at Heart line dancing group for several years and they performed at many festivals, fairs, and nursing homes. Thelma was a proficient sewer who made numerous quilts, table covers, tree skirts, and many other items that everyone in the family will enjoy for many years to come. For the last 2 1/2 years, she lived in Assisted Living at Lakes of Monclova. She participated in many activities at Lakes and especially loved Bingo and crafts.

Thelma is survived by her children, Joanne (Tom) Klumm, of Swanton, Janice (Joseph) Rothman of Colorado, Michael (Marilyn) of Dania Beach, FL and Robin (Gary) Hagemeyer of Monclova; daughter-in-law, Paulette Zwyer of Monclova; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Robert Zwyer of Berkey; and many loving nieces and nephews; special friends, Dorothy Bunde and Margie Eckert. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Irene and Lucille, her husband, Ray, and son, Thomas.

Friends and family will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. with the rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Prayers will begin at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday followed by the Funeral Mass, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee. Interment will follow at Roth Cemetery in Monclova. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Monclova Community Center/Historical Foundation.
