Theodore SLOTA

SLOTA Theodore Theodore Slota, of Toledo, Ohio, died Tuesday, October 11, 2011, in the Hospice of Northwest Ohio In-patient Unit Perrysburg, Ohio, at the age of 98. The eldest of nine children born to Samuel and Paraska Slotta in Oak Bank Manitoba, Canada he married the former Lena Kozakewich, she preceded him in death in 1998. A quiet person, possessing a strong and lifelong work ethic, he settled with his family in Toledo, Ohio, in 1957 after moving from Windsor Ontario, Canada. He enjoyed a long career as the owner and operator of a commercial property maintenance company and in his leisure time enjoyed golf and singing in parish choirs. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Toledo, Ohio and will be remembered for his devotion to his wife, children and family. Also preceding him were his siblings, Michael, Reverend George, OSBM, Steve, Pauline Petruniak, William "Bill", and Walter. Surviving are his children, Bernadette (Raymond) DeVellis of Duxbury, MA, Christine (Erich) Schiehlen, Gerard "Jerry" Slota of Montana, Dennis (Dori Kramer) Slota of Willits, California, and John Slota; brothers, Paul Slota of Manitoba Canada, Harry (Ann) Slota of Toronto, Canada, and Mervin (Mary) Slota, also of Manitoba, Canada; grandchildren, Eric (Julie) Slota, James (Vilma) DeVellis of Boston, MA, and Lisa (Jonathon) Médard of Arroyo Grande, California; also great-grandchildren, Kenneth Slota and Anya Slota. Friends and relatives may call Sunday from 2pm until 8pm in the Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, 2426 N. Reynolds Road (between Central and Bancroft) where services will be held Monday, October 17, 2011, beginning at 9:15am and continuing with celebration of the Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church at 10am. Entombment will follow in the Lumen Christi Mausoleum at Resurrection Cemetery. Recitation of the Rosary Sunday at 4pm.
