Thomas Joseph Hancock, 83, of Toledo, OH, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2025. Born April 18, 1942, at St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo, OH, he was the son of Edward and Leona (Schick) Hancock. Thomas was a proud 1960 graduate of St. Francis De Sales High School in Toledo, OH. He also earned a degree in Individualized studies at the University of Toledo. On September 14, 1973, he married his Princess and the love of his life, Lois (Mininger).

Thomas was a licensed Funeral Director working with several funeral homes in the Toledo area. Prior to that he was an insurance adjuster. He enjoyed playing golf, tennis, singing in the church choir, and was an avid fan of anything relating to the University of Notre Dame. Most everything he owned was inscribed with an ND. But nothing compared to his love for Lois, his wife of 43 years. In 1985, Thomas earned a Good Samaritan Award from the Toledo-Lucas County Safety Council for entering a burning building to wake up a mother and her 2 children and leading them to safety.

Thomas is survived by step-sons, Terry (Karen) Moebius, David (Joan) Moebius and Gregory Moebius; daughter-in-law, Lee Moebius; sister, Mary LeStrange; brother, Michael (Sue) Hancock; sisters-in-law, Eileen Hancock and Barbara Hancock; 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; his parents, Edward and Leona; his step-son, Russell Moebius; sister, Margaret Hancock; brothers, John Hancock and Edward Hancock; brothers-in-law, Michael Mininger, Jonathon Mininger and William LeStrange.

Visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman), Temperance, MI. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at The Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2240 Castlewood Drive, Toledo, OH, where he will lie in state after 10:00 a.m., with Reverend Kevin Moebius officiating. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to St. Francis de Sales High School in Toledo.
