Thomas Hankenhof Obituary

Thomas Hankenhof

07/26/1958 - 09/24/2025

Thomas Edward Hankenhof, age 67, passed away Wednesday, September 24th, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born on July 26th, 1958, to the parents of Gene and Clare (Manion) Hankenhof in Toledo, Ohio.

Tom will be remembered as a caring husband, father, son, brother and a friend to many. Tom was married to his beloved wife, Theresa (Francis) Hankenhof, with whom he shared many years of love and partnership. Together, they raised two daughters, Katie and Kristie, who were his pride and joy. His greatest legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply.

Born into a large family as one of six boys, Tom grew up with a love for sports and camaraderie that carried through his life. He attended Central Catholic High School in Toledo, Ohio, where he made long lasting friendships. He was a devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers and University of Michigan football, rarely missing a chance to cheer on his favorite teams. His enthusiasm, humor, and storytelling made him a joy to be around, and his presence filled every room.

He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and the steady presence he provided to those around him. His smile will never be forgotten.

Tom is survived by his wife, Theresa; his daughters, Katie and Kristie; and his brothers, Gene (Mary), Jeff (Mary), Jim (Barb), Steve (Kim); his sister-in-law, Anne Hankenhof; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Robert Hankenhof.

Family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home, 1757 Tremainsville Rd., Sunday October 12th, from 3:00-7:00 p.m., where a Scripture service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Funeral prayers will be held Monday, October 13th, at 9:30 a.m., at the funeral home, followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., in Christ the King Catholic Church, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Tom's memory to Central Catholic High School in Toledo, Ohio, https://www.centralcatholic.org/support or American Brain Tumor Association, bit.ly/DonateABTA
