Thomas Jasinski Obituary

JASINSKI

Thomas J.

Thomas J. Jasinski, 61, of Fort Meyers, FL, formerly of East Toledo, passed away peacefully in his son's home on December 28, 2014. He was an avid automobile enthusiast and a fan of all types of racing, especially open-wheel. He traveled the country attending many Indy Car, Formula One, and NASCAR events. He also loved driving and working on his precious antique Volvo 1800s. After spending 17 years as the Senior Supervisor of Operations at Toledo's Bay View Wastewater Treatment Plant, he was finally able to fulfill his dream of becoming a Florida Resident.

The last years of his life were some of his best. Sunny days were followed by long nights at Danny's Lazy Days Saloon where he was known as "Tommy Labatt's." Despite the poor prognosis of his illness he always remained positive and thoroughly enjoyed the last six months of his life spent with his son. Among many other things, his perseverance and ability to enjoy every day to the fullest will remain an inspiration to those who knew him.

Surviving is his son, Thomas (Katherine); siblings, Michael (Barb), Katherine (Joe) Shepherd, and Peggy (Greg) Eisenbrandt; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary (McCormick) Jasinski; brother, Andrew Jasinski and brother-in-law, Michael Shepherd.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015, from 2-7 p.m. at David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., Toledo, OH 43611. Funeral Service will begin that same day at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with Father Anthony Borgia officiating. Interment is private. Those wishing to make a contribution in Tom's memory are asked to send their donations to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. I'm so sorry to hear the news of TJ's passing. Even more sorry that we lost touch over the last few years. There are so many wonderful memories, and for that I'm truly grateful.

Just heard about his passing today...did not even know he was ill! I didn't get to work with him long before he retired, but we're glad you came on board at Water Rec. So very sorry for your loss, Tom.

Sorry to hear of Tom's passing. Lot's of great childhood memories (and a scar he gave me).

Even though I only saw him once in the last 45 years.

My best wishes to the family.
