Thomas Carl Keister passed away July 8, 2024. Tom was born January 17, 1946 in Toledo, Ohio, the youngest son of Merlin and Ellen (Manthey) Keister. He attended Whittier Grade School, Woodward High School for two years and was a member of the first graduating class form Start High School in 1964.

A U.S. Army veteran during the mid 60s during the Vietnam era, he was especially proud of being a member of the "Special Forces" (airborne) known as the "Green Berets". After military time, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for over 35 years and he continued his education earning an associate degree in Business Management. His postal career included many positions. He was the last postal employee stationed at the old Central Union Terminal as a railroad transfer clerk. He then served as dock expediter, acting supervisor assistant Logistics Coordinator, Quality Control Technician, Express Mail Manager, Postal Operations Specialist Sr. and Sr. Operations Support Specialist.

He held memberships in APWU, NAPS, APS, NRA and others. He was a life time member of Grace Lutheran Church, a career member of the Toledo postal Employees Credit Union where he served on the Board of Directors for many years, holding office as Vice President and President of the Board.

Tom enjoyed reading, history, stamp collecting, computers, cooking, home decorating, watching movies, HD television, target shooting, land scaping, and finance and investing. He was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dave; and two best pals, Mart and Ron. Tom was devastated by the untimely and premature loss of his wife, soul mate and best friend, Mary Jane in 2018.

Surviving is his daughter, Cara Renna (Hawaii); son, Robert (Florida); brother, Paul (Mollie); sister-in-law, Carolyn; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Per Tom's request, there will be no visitation or services, and cremation has taken place.

In lieu of memorials, Tom asked that you do a good deed for a friend, neighbor or family member.

Grew up in the neighborhood with Tom and also went to Whittier school. We played a lot of baseball together. Also, in later years, bowled in the same bowling with his father, Merl. Very sorry for your loss.
