Walter BINKOWSKI Obituary

BINKOWSKI Walter Walter S. Binkowski, 85, passed away at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, September 27, 2010, after a lengthy illness. Walter was born in Neffs, Ohio, on January 25, 1925, to Walter and Mary (Florek) Binkowski. He worked at Libbey Owens Ford for many years and finally, after working for Dana Corporation for 24 years, retired in 1986. Walter loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping with his wife of 60 years, Irene (Filipski) Binkowski. Walter was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. Walter has been preceded in death by his loving wife, Irene; parents, Walter and Mary; son, Thomas Binkowski; brother, Ed Binkowski; son-in-law, Ted Witkowski and best friend and brother-in-law, Joe Beakas. He is survived by his loving children, Kathleen Witkowski Poore (Tom), Michael Binkowski (Maureen) and daughter-in-law, Nadine Binkowski. Also surviving are his ten grandchildren, Kim (Nick) Giovannucci, Kelly (Chris) McGrath, Ted (Monica) Witkowski, Troy Witkowski, Travis Witkowski, Chris Binkowski, Devon Binkowski, Tom Binkowski, Tim (Julia) Binkowski, Jada Binkowski, and seven great-grand children; as well as his sisters, Penny Gorniak and Dolores Kronoviter. Walter was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed. Friends may call Friday from 2-8 p.m. at the Sujkowski Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Highway ,where Scripture services will be held at 5 p.m. Funeral Services will begin with prayers at the mortuary, Saturday at 9:45 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church. The family would like to thank Dr. William P. Schafer, cardiologist, for his wonderful care and everyone at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio for all of their kindness and compassion. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the American Heart Association.
