William Hoffman Obituary
William Peter "Bill" Hoffman, Jr., 83, formerly of Temperance, MI, passed away May 12, 2023, in the presence of his family in Mesa, Arizona. Bill was born June 25, 1939, in Toledo, OH, to William P. and Edith M. (Nabor) Hoffman. He married Suzanne R. Marchant (Sue) in May 1958, in Temperance, MI. He graduated with honors from Central Catholic High School in Toledo, OH in 1957 and later studied Accounting at The University of Toledo. Bill worked for several prominent organizations throughout his career in commercial and industrial real estate (Michael Realty Company), sales of new residential construction (Forester Wehrle Homes) and residential home insulation (Dependable Insulation, Inc.) where he was owner and CEO. Bill held a builder's license in Michigan as well as real estate licenses in Michigan, Ohio and Arizona. As a community leader in Ohio and Michigan, Bill was a Past Trustee with the Downtown Toledo Kiwanis, Vice Chairman with the Bedford Township Planning Commission and Member of the Bedford Board of Zoning Appeals. In Mesa, AZ, Bill and Sue were active in their community (Sunland Village) where they enjoyed the many pleasures of retired living with a core group of their friends. Bill would often attend the community board meetings with suggestions and ideas involving community development projects and their benefits. Bill's love of family, friends and dogs (Teddy and Rusty) will be a lasting memory of this generous, intelligent and good-humored man.
He is survived by his 5 children, Bill Hoffman III, Mark Hoffman, Lisa Stoller, Matt Hoffman, Katy Karaffa; and 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sue; his parents; his sister, Matilda Strugarek (Mae); and his brother, Joseph Hoffman (Joe). A simultaneous Christian burial with Sue's cremains will take place at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Temperance, MI. A mass of intention for Bill and Sue will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the 11 a.m. service at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Memorial donations can be sent to Our Lady of Mt. What a beautiful and full life he lived. I could not have asked for a better grandfather and great-grandpa to his great-grandson. I was so lucky to have you in my life, that makes saying goodbye so hard. I will miss you deeply grandpa.
