Mary Goring Obituary

Mary Ellen Goring was born 18 February 1963 in Logan, Utah, the fifth child of William F. and Margie Goring, and passed away peacefully 6 August 2025 at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Logan, Utah.

She grew up in Tremonton, Utah, attended local schools, and graduated from Bear River High School. She attended Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah, and received a degree in education, with a minor in Spanish.

She worked in Phoenix, Arizona, for a time, and then went on an LDS mission to Argentina. Upon returning, she studied graphic design at the University of Utah, and then worked at several advertising agencies in Salt Lake and for the LDS Church.

In 2008, Mary moved to Deweyville to be near her family. In 2021 she moved to senior housing in Logan. After a serious fall and broken leg in August 2024, she moved to Rocky Mountain Care Center in Logan, where she passed away.

Mary was an artistic, creative person. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and piecing quilts. She was a gifted musician who wrote music and played the piano. Mary was always willing to help others and was a support to her nieces and nephews in their various activities. She enjoyed participating in theatrical productions, and had many treasured friends.

She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various positions.

She is survived by her brother, Jr. (Sherie) Goring; sister, Kathy Bessinger, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William F. and Margie Goring, and sisters, Maxine and Josephine Goring, and brother-in-law, Bob Bessinger.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 16, at 11:00 A.M., at the Deweyville Church, 10750 North Highway 38, Deweyville, with a visitation for family and friends prior to the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M.

The family wishes to express thanks to Rocky Mountain Care Center, Deweyville Ward and to all who cared for and loved Mary. Special thanks to her cousin, Jim Hunsaker, who kindly cared for her beloved pets when she was no longer able to keep them.
