Janet Guthridge Obituary
Born on February 22, 1938, in Reynoldsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mildred (Jones) Smith.
On December 21, 1957, Janet took a bus to Buffalo N.Y. to marry Donald Guthridge. They had 67 wonderful years. Don survives.
Janet had a strong faith in God, she enjoyed teaching Sunday school for years at the CMA Church in DuBois, where she was a member. She was a prayer warrior to everyone she met and loved saying prayers at family gatherings. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Janet had various jobs, before becoming a stay-at-home mom to: Donald (Marsha) Guthridge of Falls Creek, Richard (Michelle) Guthridge of DuBois, Martin (Sharon) Guthridge of Reynoldsville, Michelle (John) Daugherty of Falls Creek.
Her greatest joy was when she became a grandma to her nine grandchildren, she loved babysitting, Adam (Amy) Guthridge, Matthew Guthridge, Christie (Damien) Beckwith, Ryan (Fresh) Guthridge Katie (Keith) Zeliger, Nicole (Cody) Lippert, Eric (Tiff) Guthridge, Lindsay and Makayla Daugherty. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and a sister, Molly Shaffer of Falls Creek.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frederick "Donald" Jr., Arthur "Keith," James, Francis "Sandy" Smith, and a sister, Karen Smith.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, January 20 from 4-7 p.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel & Crematorium and again on January 21, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. David Nagel. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Haven House, 202 W. DuBois Ave., DuBois.
