Catherine Dzyak Obituary

Catherine Dzyak, 93, of Donora, died on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at her home. She was born Sunday, Aug. 4, 1918, in Leetonia, Ohio, the daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Sidloski) Simonik. She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Church in Donora and the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary. In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Dzyak, on June 3, 2004; four sisters, Mary Hudak, Anna Adamusko, Elizabeth Fratti and Margaret Dolak; also a brother, John Simonik. Surviving are five children, Dr. Judith Dzyak, of Boston, Mass., Phillip (Lynn) Dzyak, of Springfield, Va., Charles (Linda) Dzyak, of Springfield, Va., Dr. William (Kathy) Dzyak, of Boyds, Md., and Alice Dzyak, of Carmel, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Mary Catherine Pfiester, Laura Dzyak, Carl Dzyak, Joshua Dzyak, Katrina Dzyak, Jessica Dzyak, Victoria Buchanan and Craig Buchanan; two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Avrie Pfiester; a brother, Joseph Simonik, of Donora; also several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 12, 2012, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Donora, PA 15033, (724) 379-6900, where prayers will be recited on Friday, July 13, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Valley Church in Donora with the Rev. Father Gerald Mikonis as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township. The family suggests memorial contributions in Catherine's name be made to a hospice of your choice. The Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary will recite the Rosary in memory of Catherine on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
