1922 - 2016

Robert W. "Bob" Fawcett Sr., 93, of McKeesport, died Sunday, June 12, 2016. He was born July 15, 1922, in McKeesport, and was the son of the late Wilber William Fawcett and the late Gladys Mary Millington Fawcett. He was the husband of the late Josephine Harshman Fawcett, who died July 12, 2013. Bob was proprietor of the former Bob Fawcett Excavating and was a member of White Oak American Legion Post 701, the Model A Restorer's Club and Free and Accepted Masons Youghiogheny Lodge 583. He was also an avid gardener. Bob was a World War II Army veteran. He received the World War II Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star. He is survived by daughters, Karol (David) Horvatin, of Dravosburg, and Pattie Jo (Russell) Williams, of McKeesport; son, Robert W. (Kathy) Fawcett Jr., of White Oak; grandchildren, Shelley Fawcett, Jason and Jon Williams and David and Karrie Horvatin; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Mae; and brothers, Duane, Morrell, William and Russell Fawcett.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at the GILBERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak, (Troy J. Gilbert, director). Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016, in the Chapel of Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon, with the Rev. Dr. Rudy Mayak, officiating. Everyone please meet at the cemetery chapel. Interment with military honors will follow there.
