Barry Watson Obituary

Barry L. Watson, 48, of Forbes Road, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016, from complications of liver disease. He was the son of Darlene (Strejcek) and Barry Watson Sr. He is also survived by his loving wife, Caryn (VanGrootenbruel) Watson; children, Cory and Bailey; and sister, Brandi (Dan) Davis. He will be affectionately remembered as Uncle Boo by nieces Alyssa, Colleen and Maria; and by nephews, Brandan, Peter, Dominick and Scott. Barry will also be sadly missed by his in-laws, the Vans and Trouts, and by scores of friends and relatives whose life he has touched. Barry was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend that had a passion for living life to its fullest. He graduated from Plum High School (1985) where he was a standout football player. Barry also made his mark on many young athletes' lives in the Plum Midget Football organization where he was a coach for many seasons. An over the top Pittsburgh sports fan, Barry was never far from the TV or sports page where he kept tabs on his Penguins, Pirates, Steelers and Pitt football. Also an outdoorsman, he enjoyed gardening, hunting with his cousins, fishing and picnicking with Caryn and the kids, and the annual Watson/Davis summer vacations to Myrtle Beach. Special thanks to devoted lifelong friend Vince Azzara who was always there for him, to the medical staff at UPMC Montefiore and the Starz Transplant Center. Thank you also to all of our friends and Facebook Angels for all your support, encouragement and prayers.
A celebration of Barry's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Townsend Park in Murrysville.

I graduated from high school with Barry in 1985. I never saw him since then, but I will always remember his infectious smile and humor. RIP Barry. With deepest sympathy to the Watson family, Patsy Brenner Kvortek
