Carlie Elizabeth Kerklo, 14, of Ligonier, passed away Monday morning, July 28, 2008, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 15, 1994, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of Dean A. and Darlene Halaszynski Kerklo. Carlie was an eighth grade student at Ligonier Valley Middle School. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She was a recipient and benefactor of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She was a five year participant of Dr. Bill Neches Heart Camp for Kids. She was the namesake for the annual "Carlie's Golf Outing" which benefited the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Dr. Bill Neches Heart Camp for Kids and was in its seventh year of fundraising. Carlie was an international traveler, an aspiring chef with an eclectic collection of cookbooks and a painter. She loved the Denver Broncos, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Penguins. She enjoyed company and being with her loving family and friends. She will long be remembered for her beautiful smile and unconditional love. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Mary Tobias Halaszynski, in 1988; and her paternal grandfather, Donald C. Kerklo, in 2002. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandfather, Dennis R. Halaszynski Sr., of McKeesport; paternal grandmother, Lavina F. Kerklo, of Liberty Borough; loving aunts and uncles, Dennis and Kathy Halaszynski, of Ligonier, Joel and Kathy Halaszynski and David Halaszynski, all of McKeesport, Denise and Larry Jablonski, of Ligonier, Diane and Paul Couch, of Port Vue, Eric and Jennifer Halaszynski, of North Huntingdon, and Mike and Donna Jo Couch, of Dravosburg; and numerous cousins and friends. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL CHAPEL AND CREMATORY INC., 144 East Main St., Ligonier. A blessing service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral chapel followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Monsignor William G. Charnoki, P.A. as celebrant.
