Catherine Scheuer Obituary

Catherine "Red" Scheuer, 93, of Monroeville, went to be with her Lord Friday, April 5, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Hannah Aspley; wife of the late Warren "Hop" Scheuer; beloved mother of Sarah Slovina and Shirley (Richard) Schultz; cherished grandmother of David (Shawna) Slovina, Nicole (Dan) Rullo and Matthew (Monica) Schultz; devoted great-grandmother of Zachary Slovina and Laura Rullo; sister of the late Marion Augustine and Ruth Walko; also survived by nieces and nephews. She enjoyed helping to raise and being with her grandchildren and was a surrogate "Nanny" for many other children. She had a love of baking and giving the pastries away. She will be remembered as a thoughtful and wonderful aunt and will be deeply missed by her myriad of friends, neighbors and relatives. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at ALFIERI FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 Marguerite Ave., Wilmerding, PA 15148, 412-824-4332. Family and friends will gather at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home and a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in North American Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, 2526 Haymaker Road, Monroeville, PA 15146. Interment will be in Restland Memorial Park. The Scheuer family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of LGAR Health and Rehabilitation Center in Turtle Creek for providing outstanding care to their mother in the last year of her life and to the Bethany Hospice for making the last weeks comfortable and dignified.
