Donald J. "Donnie" Downs, 65, of Latrobe, passed away, Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, at home. He was born Jan. 2, 1958, in Latrobe, a son of the late Donald B. and Erma M. (Lint) Downs. Don owned and operated Don's Auto Service, serving Latrobe and the surrounding community for 46 years. He was a member of St. Vincent Basilica Parish. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Westley J. Downs; and two siblings, Patricia Crusan and Joseph Downs. Don is survived by his daughter, Marisa L. Downs (John Wolford); a step-grandson, Devin Wolford; a sister, Michelle McManamy (Kenneth); a sister, Barbara Shafron (Tom); numerous nieces and nephews; and his loyal German Shepherd, Luke. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023, at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC.,1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, PA 15650. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023, at St. Vincent Basilica, Latrobe. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Latrobe. Don's family would like to thank the staffs at the Arnold Palmer Pavilion UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and Amedisys Hospice for the kind and compassionate care that was extended to their whole family while Don was in their care.
