Francis V. Hopkins North Irwin Francis V. "Butch" Hopkins, 84, of North Irwin, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Jan. 25, 1928, in North Huntingdon, a son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Cook Hopkins. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, Irwin Post Office. He was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Irwin. He was a veteran of the Army serving during World War II and a member of the LOOM 236 of Irwin. Butch was often seen with his coffee friends at the Giant Eagle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Myra "Bea" Stampler Hopkins. Surviving are two children, Vincent Hopkins and his wife, Pamela, of Murrysville, and Mary Beth Prettiman, of North Irwin; two grandchildren, Cassidy and Benjamin Hopkins; three sisters, Betty Hadly, of Alabama, Dolores "Sis" Vincent and her husband, Louis, of Westmoreland City, and Verna Wilkey, of Utah; sisters-in-law, Mildred Yemc, of Jeannette, Joyce Stampler, of Illinois, and Marie Stampler, of Sutersville; brother-in-law, George Hart, of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., 504 Oak St., Irwin. Parting prayers will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will follow in the Irwin Union Cemetery North Huntingdon. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Heartland Hospice, 3520 Route 130, Irwin, PA 15642. John F.
