Ann Gibson Obituary

Ann Basis Gibson, 90, of North Huntingdon, died peacefully Sunday, April 12, 2009, with her family by her side. She was a resident of Golden Heights Personal Care Home. Ann was born Feb. 11, 1919, in Braddock, a daughter of the late Emil and Kathryn Lopatoski. Prior to her retirement, Ann was employed as a bookkeeper by Spiegel's. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, North Huntingdon, Emerald Club, and the Polish Women's Alliance of America. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Basis; her second husband, Leonard Gibson; a daughter, Cathi Basis; and a sister, Mary Ann O'Shea. She is survived by her daughter, Tanya Carney and her husband, Don, of Canadian Lakes, Mich.; a sister, Josephine Fassinger, of Scottdale; two grandchildren, Donald Carney and his wife Diane, and Chad Carney and his wife Lori, all of Michigan; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the JAMES W. SHIRLEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, North Huntingdon. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Agnes Church with Father Larry O'Shea as celebrant. Interment in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Golden Heights Activity Fund.
